The Role
Economist Impact Events is the leading provider of international forums for senior executives seeking new insights into strategic issues. These meetings include industry conferences, bespoke events, management events, and government roundtables held around the world.
We are recruiting a Senior Business Development Manager to lead Custom Events across the Americas region. The position will be responsible for creating new business opportunities in the region for custom events. This role will also be responsible for growing bespoke sponsorship revenues from a portfolio of custom events across our Americas region.
Responsibilities
- Own a personal sales target and regional (Americas) revenue target region for long-term strategic client relationship for bespoke events
- Grow a new client base in the region across key accounts as well as researching and creating new opportunities
- Work with the partnership sales team in a matrix structure to maximize the cross-sell opportunities
- Work with the Americas partnership teams for integrated pitches and expand into the region's key accounts and GCP (Global Client Partner) accounts
- Ensure alignment with programming teams for the pro-active custom events topics specific to regions, and implement a go-to-market strategy to create compelling propositions
- Seek feedback and interact closely with sponsors throughout the life of the event cycle(s) to ensure the project/event is running on track and meeting their expectations
- Monitor and report on personal and regional custom event revenue in the region while maintaining personal responsibility in executing the sales process and maximizing revenue.
- Confidently and persuasively convey the merits of The Economist Group's capabilities to clients and prospects in all written and verbal communications while maintaining the high quality and professional image of The Economist
- Have a deep understanding of the high-end consumer demographic and the most senior-level business decision-makers and their media and purchasing habits for the confirmed category
- Liaise with marketing, programming, operations, and the Global Events team
Who You Are
- Track record of building sales universes and developing new business
- Ability to work independently to create new business opportunities
- Experience in working with client-focused teams in a consultative project or events environment
- A demonstrated track record of driving successful projects that include substantial client interactions
- Excellent people and project management skills
- Experience presenting to and negotiating with senior decision-makers of large multi-national corporations
- Strong intellectual curiosity and a keen interest in the editorial subject matter of Economist events
- Ability to generate ideas and transform good ideas into practice
- A good team player with the ability to think strategically and tactically
- Flexibility to travel
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $108,000.00 - $147,000.00. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Rather, salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
