Job Description
As a Corporate Counsel, you'll apply your strong legal expertise and understanding of our business to provide clear, practical advice that supports our purpose of protecting what matters most. Acting as a subject matter expert, you’ll work independently and collaboratively to navigate legal and regulatory complexities, contributing to a high-performing legal team. With a focus on partnership, you’ll build strong relationships across the business and with external stakeholders to deliver effective, solutions-focused outcomes.
In This Role You Will:
- Manage litigated matters in collaboration with external legal partners
- Oversee external dispute resolution cases, including those with AFCA and similar bodies
- Provide timely legal advice and support to claims, underwriting, and other business units
- Deliver legal training to enhance capability within the claims and underwriting teams
- Advise risk and compliance teams on obligations under the Life Insurance Code of Practice
- Support the Internal Dispute Resolution team with legal guidance
- Collaborate with other legal teams to review product documentation and related materials
Qualifications
- Admitted to practise law with a minimum of 3 years PQE
- Previous experience in the financial services industry is desired
- Knowledge of insurance law
- Relevant legal tertiary education
- Collaborative and strong team player
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
