Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior HR Data Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will leverage subject matter expertise, especially advanced Power BI, to transform complex HR data into understandable and actionable insights, supporting process improvement opportunities within HR and strategic decision-making across the organization whilst ensuring alignment with business priorities. You will work closely with HR leaders/product owners and business partners across APAC to design, develop, and maintain data analytics that enhance workforce planning, talent management, and overall employee experience. You are a mentor to others within HR on reporting and analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy dynamic reports and dashboards, mainly using PowerBI, tailored for HR management and stakeholders reporting needs across APAC.  The initial focus will be on compensation-related reporting including bonus accruals, funding, and spend analytics and subsequent expansion across the other HR product areas.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to support strategic HR initiatives and improve workforce outcomes.
  • Analyze large and complex HR datasets (e.g., recruitment, performance, compensation, turnover) to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity within HR data systems and reports to enable effective data utilization.
  • Collaborate with HR stakeholders to understand their requirements and establish key indicators, metrics and dashboards. Also, create standardized reports to enable HR team’s review and communication of impact to business priorities.
  • Enable HR stakeholders to independently generate reports and insights through developed templates that are sustainable – easy to use and well-documented.
  • Work collaboratively within the HRRC team to drive continuous improvement in reporting capabilities and data governance.
  • Work cross-functionally with IT, and other business units to integrate data sources and enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and training to increase HR capabilities in data analytics and data driven decision making culture.
  • Ensure compliance with SMBC’s data security standards and regional/ global regulatory requirements.
  • Explore utilization of additional tools and programming languages to enhance reporting efficiency and data analysis.
  • Stay current with Power BI developments and HR analytics best practices to continuously improve reporting tools.
  • Support ad-hoc data analysis requests and produce executive-ready presentations.
  • Support and contribute on adhoc HR projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Analytics, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as an HR analyst, BI analyst, or similar role with a strong focus on Power BI.
  • Expert proficiency in Power BI, DAX, Power Query, and data visualization best practices.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with HRIS systems such as SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, or similar.
  • Deep understanding of HR metrics and workforce analytics.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring colleagues/ team members and managing BI projects.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of advanced statistical analysis or predictive analytics techniques.
  • Experience with other BI tools or programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
  • Familiarity with data governance and compliance standards in HR data.
