Position Summary

Relocation assistance: Up to $15,000

Pay Range: $29.19/hr to $41.44/hr.

The Patient Access Supervisor collaborates with the Patient Access Services Manager in managing daily department operations, including hiring, training, scheduling, time/pay management, coaching, and corrective actions. They lead meetings, audit registrations, address software issues, improve workflows, maintain policies, report productivity, and provide coverage for frontline positions. The supervisor also provides leadership, participates in committees, and ensures customer satisfaction. Contributes to a positive work environment that promotes HMC values.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Department Operations Support. Representative duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide coverage for frontline support being able to function as a PA Registrar Scheduler, Admitting Rep, and Insurance Verification Specialist.
  • Organizes and assigns daily tasks, ensures smooth workflow and efficient use of resources within the team.
  • Manages Kronos/T-Time for staff.
  • Assesses patients for communication barriers and obtains appropriate resources to meet individual needs, develops and implements measures to ensure customer satisfaction.

Financial Supervision. Representative duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversees the collection of payments for services, assists with the patient financial clearance process, which includes financial assistance, cash collections, denials, verification, prior authorizations, notice of admissions and determination of eligibility for Medicaid or other assistance programs.

Team Supervision. Representative duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervises and guides team members, effectively provides support and feedback to help them improve skills and performance, functions as a member of the leadership team.
  • Makes rounds daily to ensure department is functioning smoothly and assist with issues as needed.
  • Addresses team issues and challenges and participates in facilitating solutions and escalates complex problems when necessary; must be able to handle conflict and stressful situations.
  • Fosters open communications within the team and with other departments, facilitating collaboration and teamwork.
  • Utilizes problem solving techniques and acts to deal with departmental concerns such as workflows, policies, procedures and electronic/software/system concerns.
  • Assist manager with hiring, training, coaching, disciplinary action.

Performs other related duties and special projects, as assigned.

Job Specifications

Education & Experience

Required:

  • Associate degree with coursework in leadership, business, medical billing/insurance/terminology and/or healthcare or equitable experience in lieu of degree.
  • Two (2) years of progressively more responsible leadership/supervisory/management experience including problem solving, coaching, managing change and team development in a customer focused environment.
  • One (1) year of experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.

Licenses & Certifications

Preferred:

  • Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In-depth understanding of medical terminology, healthcare and billing procedures, HIPPA regulations, and healthcare regulations and compliance.
  • Proficiency in scheduling systems, electronic Health Records (EHR) Systems and office equipment and software (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling software).
