About the Team
The Corporate Security Technology group at OpenAI is responsible for deploying cutting-edge security technologies to safeguard our people, assets, high-profile employees’ residences, company-sponsored events, and global travel. As a critical part of the broader Corporate Security organization, the team operates at the intersection of technology and physical security to protect OpenAI’s mission and leadership.

About the Role
As OpenAI continues to grow in size, influence, and visibility, the technical and physical security risks facing the company and its leaders are expanding. We’re seeking a seasoned Senior Manager, Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM) to build and lead a world-class program that proactively identifies and mitigates technical threats targeting OpenAI’s leadership, corporate campuses, and other properties.

This leader will design and implement TSCM strategies, integrate state-of-the-industry technologies, and partner closely with Real Estate & Workplace (REW), Information Security, and Executive Protection teams. The ideal candidate is a trusted, highly technical security expert with discretion, operational rigor, and the ability to deliver in a high-touch environment supporting senior leadership.

This position is based in San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid work model (3 days per week in office). Domestic and international travel—including to geopolitically sensitive regions—should be expected.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Lead and scale OpenAI’s global TSCM program, including RF monitoring systems and technical vulnerability assessments.
  • Design, implement, and oversee advanced physical and technical security measures for executive offices, residences, and travel.
  • Support Executive Protection operations by mitigating technical surveillance threats.
  • Source, integrate, and maintain cutting-edge physical and technical security technologies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with REW, IT, InfoSec, and other Corporate Security teams to strengthen technical surveillance protections.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and their families, tailoring solutions to evolving threat landscapes and personal needs.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure operational excellence across critical security systems and platforms.

You may be a fit for this role if you have:

  • 10+ years of experience leading physical security technology programs in highly confidential environments.
  • 5+ years of hands-on TSCM experience with certification from a recognized TSCM training program (government-sponsored training strongly preferred).
  • Active or prior Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
  • Deep expertise in physical security systems, CCTV, alarms, and secure communication technologies.
  • Proven success managing vendors and complex technical deployments.
  • Experience conducting technical and physical vulnerability assessments.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • A reputation for sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive matters.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including to geopolitically sensitive areas.
