The RoleSynapticure is seeking a compassionate and skilled Research Occupational Therapist (OT) to support patients participating in multi-site clinical trials for neurodegenerative diseases. In this travel-based role, you will conduct in-home functional assessments to ensure high-quality data collection while delivering patient-centered care that aligns with strict trial protocols.You will collaborate with site teams across six trial locations in the U.S. (Northeast and Texas) and Canada (Toronto), administering standardized outcome measures, documenting findings, and ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and study requirements. The ideal candidate brings both deep occupational therapy expertise and clinical research experience, with the ability to balance empathetic patient support and rigorous adherence to trial protocols.

Job Duties – What You’Ll Be Doing
- Conduct standardized, protocol-driven assessments of motor, cognitive, and functional abilities in patients with neurodegenerative diseases
- Schedule and coordinate study visits in collaboration with site teams based on study protocol timelines
- Administer outcome measures and collect data in compliance with trial protocols and regulatory requirements
- Perform home-based evaluations of patient function and environment; document findings accurately in alignment with study guidelines
- Provide occupational therapy assessments defined by trial protocols (e.g., COPM, iADLs, home environment evaluations)
- Educate patients and caregivers on strategies to maintain safety, independence, and quality of life within the context of study participation
- Offer empathetic support to patients and families managing neurodegenerative disease and trial enrollment
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and study data
- Ensure compliance with GCP standards, sponsor requirements, and regulatory guidelines
- Partner with research staff, site monitors, and regulatory teams during data reviews and audits
- Represent Synapticure and study sponsors professionally in all patient and caregiver interactions
- Collaborate with clinical and research teams to support coordinated participation and high-quality care
Requirements – What We Look For In You
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Current or former Occupational Therapist license in relevant state(s) of practice
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist
- Clinical experience working with patients with neurological and mobility conditions (e.g., ALS, stroke, Parkinson’s)
- Prior experience with clinical research trials and terminal disease populations strongly preferred
- Knowledge of occupational therapy outcome measures, iADLs, COPM, and related functional assessments
- Familiarity with GCP, Human Subjects Protection, and clinical research compliance standards
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective patient education and documentation
- Strong interpersonal skills and patient-centered approach to care delivery
- Ability to work independently, manage a mobile caseload, and adapt to diverse home environments
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to respond effectively to patient needs in variable field settings

Travel Expectations
- This is a field-based travel role with responsibilities across six sites in the U.S. (Northeast and Texas) and Canada (Toronto). Frequent domestic and international travel is required.
