About Epirus
Epirus is a high-growth technology company dedicated to overcoming the asymmetric challenges inherent to the future of national security. Epirus' flagship product, Leonidas, is a software-defined system built using intelligent power management techniques which allow power-hungry systems to do more with less.
Job Summary: This is an exciting leadership opportunity with an innovative, high-growth defense technology company. As our Senior Manager of Technical Project Management (TPM), you will shape and scale a new TPM function that drives innovation, empowers engineers, and ensures delivery of mission-critical technology. You will lead by example: owning project execution from concept through go-to-market, building and mentoring a high-performing team, and proactively creating clarity in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
You will split your time as a functional manager and TPM of individual project(s). TPMs partner closely with Chief Engineers (who own the technical baseline) to deliver projects on schedule, within budget and risk posture, and aligned with business goals. TPMs ensure seamless execution across engineering, operations, marketing, and sales. With your technical background, you’ll lean into design reviews, understand tradeoffs, and roll up your sleeves when needed. You will report to the VP of Engineering as part of the Engineering and Technology Organization (ETO).
This is a rare chance to build a new function from the ground up. You’ll shape how we deliver projects, mentor the next generation of TPMs, and directly influence the trajectory of our technology. If you’re passionate about innovation, thrive on solving problems before they appear, and want to lead with vision and impact, we’d love to talk.
Responsibilities:
- Build and Lead the Team: Hire, mentor, and grow TPMs, setting expectations and defining best practices for project delivery. Foster a culture of empowerment, innovation, and accountability.
- Strategic Impact: Establish and refine processes, tools, and metrics for scaling the organization. Anticipate future opportunities, help shape product strategy, and ensure TPMs act as the voice of the customer in R&D.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as the connective tissue between engineering, operations, marketing, sales, and senior leadership. Drive alignment and maintain visibility into portfolio progress.
- Individual Project Ownership: Own budgets, schedules, go-to-market plans, and risk management. Ensure delivery of high-quality solutions that meet both near-term goals and long-term customer value.
- Technical Engagement: Partner with Chief Engineers to assess risks and bring engineering and non-engineering perspectives together. Be comfortable diving into technical detail to unblock teams.
- Agile Project Management: TPMs lead interdisciplinary scrums and stand-ups, ensuring milestones are met. Champion iterative, agile approaches that maximize speed and learning.
Basic Qualifications:
- B.S. (minimum) in Engineering or a related technical field.
- 6+ years of relevant industry experience, including significant leadership in program or project management.
- At least 2 years of proven experience building, managing, and developing teams.
- Experience establishing and scaling processes, tools, and metrics across an organization.
- Experience delivering hardware and software systems from cradle to grave.
- Proficiency with collaborative project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, MS Project, or similar).
- Must be able to design, configure, and manage workflows, dashboards, and reporting to ensure scheduling accuracy, transparency, and cross-functional alignment.
- Comfortable engaging in technical discussions and reviews; able to balance technical depth with program-level decision-making then translate information cross-functionally.
- Collaborative, proactive, and solution-oriented; thrives in ambiguous environments.
- Eligible for and able to maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
Preferred Skills And Experience:
- Graduate of an engineering or operations leadership program.
- PMP, CAPM, or equivalent program management certification.
- Experience leading projects in high-growth or defense-related environments.
- Advanced degree (MS, PhD) in engineering or related field.
Itar Requirements:
To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
