Liquibase is hiring a Director of Customer Success to lead our customer success team while driving retention and expansion of key accounts. This player-coach role combines managing strategic customer relationships with building and coaching a team of Customer Success Managers. The ideal candidate excels at developing talent and partnering with customers to maximize business value, while collaborating effectively with sales, professional services, and cross-functional teams.
What You’Ll Be Doing:
- Revenue Ownership: Take direct responsibility for retention and expansion targets across your managed book of business, with a proven track record of achieving 95%+ gross retention and 110%+ net retention.
- Account Strategy: Define and oversee account management strategy that transforms underutilized customers into fully adopted, expanding accounts.
- Risk Management: Identify at-risk accounts early and execute risk mitigation plans to protect ARR.
- Executive Relationships: Foster strong, multi-threaded relationships with technical executives (CTOs, VPs of Engineering, Database leaders), translating database DevOps benefits into business outcomes.
- Adoption Excellence: Ensure customers fully utilize their subscriptions by reducing typical 4-6 month implementation timelines and driving systematic team-by-team adoption.
- Voice of the Customer: Act as liaison between customers and internal teams (Sales, Engineering, Product, Support), providing insights that drive product innovation and customer success.
Must Haves:
- At least 3 years leading customer success in enterprise software with direct ownership of retention/expansion revenue targets
- Proven track record achieving 95%+ gross retention and driving measurable expansion growth
- Experience with technical buyers - CTOs, VPs of Engineering, Database/DevOps leaders
- Strong enterprise software background in DevOps, database, or infrastructure tools serving technical personas
- Extroverted relationship builder who can establish credibility with senior technical executives and navigate complex organizational structures
- GTM experience partnering with Sales and Professional Services to drive account growth
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Located in the United States - Austin, Texas preferred
