About Motive:
Motive is a website platform for franchise auto dealerships. Millions of consumers use our platform every month. Our mission is to make car shopping great by giving simple, easy-to-use websites to auto manufacturers and their dealers. Motive is growing rapidly, with OEM customers such as Genesis, Lexus, and Harley-Davidson — as well as some of the largest auto dealers in the world. We are experiencing rapid growth across the entire business.
About Our Team:
The Motive team is dynamic and fully distributed — with a small in-person presence at our headquarters in Oklahoma City and a future office in Seattle for hybrid work. We are driven to create exceptionally designed and engineered products that meaningfully impact the world. We’re a smart, thoughtful team where every member is an owner, deeply invested in the success of the business. If you thrive in fast-paced situations, and you are often skeptical of consensus, you will fit in well at Motive.

Expect to integrate with third party API’s, develop systems for maintaining content/branding at scale, and contribute to the development of scalable solutions for thousands of customers and millions of consumers. This role will report directly to our CTO, as well as the lead engineer on our Consumer team.
The ideal candidate is able to learn quickly, apply a strong work ethic to both small and large problems, and wants to have a large, direct impact on our business goals. They are a creative problem solver with an eye for design and a thoughtful approach to building new features.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Build new UI components and customize existing ones to provide more flexibility to our customers
- Integrate with third party API’s for both backend and frontend use cases
- Work directly with internal stakeholders and engineers on product development
- Move the business forward by enabling new customer launches
- Build versatile features that meet requirements from several different customers while maintaining simplicity
- Work in a small, cross-functional, and dynamic engineering team where your contributions have an immediate and noticeable impact
- Receive guidance from experienced engineers and have opportunities to learn modern full-stack practices
We are looking for someone who has/is:
- An intuition for good UI/UX design
- 1+ years of coding experience (personal, educational, or professional)
- Experience taking ownership in school or personal projects
- Interest in working at a small startup (1-20 engineers)
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented, with great follow-through
We would prefer candidates who have/are interested in the following:
- 1+ years of React experience
- 1+ years of backend development experience (Ruby on Rails and/or Python preferred)
- Experience working in B2B SaaS or B2C products
Compensation: $20-$35/hr depending on work and education experience
- Exact compensation will depend on experience and demonstrated proficiency during the interview process
Work Location: Fully remote (U.S.) or hybrid in Seattle, WA / Oklahoma City, OK.
While Motive is headquartered in Oklahoma City, our engineering team is opening an office in Seattle for hybrid work. Anyone not located in or willing to relocate to the Seattle or Oklahoma City area can work fully remote.
