Hermeus is a venture capital-backed aerospace and defense technology company. The business is focused on building high-speed products that sustainably deliver asymmetric advantage to the Department of Defense and allied partners. Utilizing an iterative development approach to aircraft, Hermeus’ high-Mach and hypersonic aircraft aim to deliver capabilities at a pace not seen in the U.S. since the 1950s.
The Flight Software team is a dynamic group that rapidly supports vehicle testing and development for the hypersonic quarter-horse program. The team is responsible for all software to remotely control the aircraft, command control surfaces, navigate the platform, and solve hard embedded programming issues. 
Spring: around 12-16 weeks (January - April)Summer: around 10 weeks (May - August)

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of onboard flight software
  • Support debugging and resolution of active software issues
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of hardware-in-the-loop test setups
  • Participate in validation and testing of flight hardware
  • Collaborate with the Flight Software team to meet current project needs and milestones

Minimum Requirements:

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Entry level experience of C++, C, or other embedded programming languages. 
  • Experience with working with hardware integrations and embedded computers (Raspberry PIs, arduinos, STM32s). 
  • Strong understanding of engineering first principles
  • Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams
  • Enthusiasm for aviation and Hermeus' mission
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
