About the role:

This is a strategic consulting role with part-time involvement, focused on building scalable, resilient, and high-quality data pipelines and analytics frameworks in the financial domain.

The project centers on the development of a data-driven platform designed to optimize decision-making processes in the financial sector. The system processes large volumes of financial data and leverages advanced analytics and AI-driven recommendations to support strategic business functions.

The consultant will be involved in designing scalable data pipelines, implementing robust data quality frameworks, and enabling deep analytical insights — all within a secure, high-compliance environment.

• Main responsibilities:
• - Provide monthly consulting to improve financial data processes and analytics in the financial sector
• - Design, document, and maintain scalable big data pipelines
• - Build robust data frameworks from ingestion to decision-making
• - Develop ETL/ELT workflows for structured and unstructured data
• - Identify and fix data quality issues (duplicates, corruption, gaps)
• - Analyze large financial datasets to generate actionable insights
• - Maintain clear technical documentation (data dictionaries, lineage)
• - Collaborate with teams to integrate AI recommendations and financial metrics
• - Support data visualization and reporting efforts

Requirements

• - SQL (Advanced): Complex queries, window functions, CTEs, query optimization for datasets with 1M+ records
• - BigQuery: Partitioning, clustering, materialized views, and cost optimization techniques
• - Python: pandas, numpy — data manipulation and analysis at scale
• - Data Modeling: Dimensional modeling (Star and Snowflake schemas), slowly changing dimensions
• - ETL/ELT: Design patterns, data quality frameworks, incremental loading strategies
• - Financial Metrics: Understanding of NPV, IRR, recovery rates, and portfolio analytics
• - Data Visualization: Proficiency in at least one tool (Looker, Tableau, or Power BI)
• - Version Control: Git for managing SQL scripts and data pipeline code
• - Documentation: Technical writing for data dictionaries, data lineage, and process flows

Would be cool:

- Statistical Analysis: Hypothesis testing, regression analysis, time series forecasting
- ML Basics: Feature engineering, model evaluation metrics, A/B testing frameworks
- Cloud Platforms: GCP certification and experience with Vertex AI Feature Store
- Orchestration: Apache Airflow or Cloud Composer for workflow management
- Data Quality Tools: Experience with Great Expectations, Monte Carlo, or similar tools
