Job Description
Are you a highly detail-oriented and self-motivated machine operator looking to join a fast-paced 2nd Shift team? We're seeking a skilled Operator to be the backbone of our custom label and tag manufacturing process. In this role, you will be responsible for the high-precision printing/encoding of custom products and the complex setup and operation of our finishing equipment.
Operator- 2nd Shift, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
This role requires a dedicated individual who thrives in a production environment and takes ownership of both quality and throughput.
What You'll Be Doing: The Core Responsibilities
1. Precision Machine Operation & Setup:
- Expertly set up, operate, and maintain high-volume thermal and inkjet printers for small and large-scale custom label and tag orders, including encoding and finishing.
- Perform complex set-ups and changeovers on various slitting, tubing, and turret slitter machines, including die cutters, independently or as part of a set-up team.
- Make required mechanical adjustments, troubleshoot, and perform corrective actions to ensure all equipment runs efficiently and accurately.
2. Quality Assurance & Order Fulfillment:
- Interpret detailed customer order specifications, special instructions, and production tickets to ensure every product meets defined quality standards.
- Utilize measurement tools (overlay gauges, shop scales) and perform basic math calculations (including decimals and percentages) to verify product specifications.
- Produce required case labels, accurately pack finished products, and organize materials for staging and distribution.
3. Workflow & Team Collaboration:
- Order and manage material inventory for your jobs to ensure a continual flow of work and smooth transitions between shifts.
- Work directly with the Service Bureau Supervisor and teammates to plan workflow, meet defined production goals, and ensure timely delivery of products.
- Actively assist, train, and support other team members, and continuously review processes to search out possibilities for improvement.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Proven mechanical aptitude and excellent eye-hand coordination and dexterity.
- A keen attention to detail and ability to work as an independent self-starter with minimal supervision.
Preferred Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in a related field (printing, converting, slitting, or other machine operation).
- Working knowledge of thermal printer, RFID, and Inkjet printer technologies (e.g., Astro Nova, Monarch).
- PC proficiency, including familiarity with common software and systems (e.g., Google Suite, Excel, ERP systems like Oracle).
