Raytheon Digital Technology (DT) is seeking an experienced enterprise architect with applications experience to lead the creation and implementation of modern, secure business and enterprise systems for Raytheon. The Digital Enterprise Architect - Application (“Architect”) is a senior individual contributor in the Enterprise Architecture Solutions organization of the Digital Technology function in Raytheon.
The Architect will be a member of a talented Architecture team with expertise in formal architecture practices and a wide range of technical skills across all IT domains. Candidates for this role should be comfortable operating in all architecture domains (enterprise, business, domain, and solution) to successfully guide the delivery of high value digital products that address critical business needs.
You will work closely with high-performing Agile and DevOps teams to architect applications and data-driven solutions to enable key business strategies and objectives. You will support a portfolio of solutions for several internal functions comprised of SaaS, vendor solutions, and custom solutions with opportunities to work across many internal business functions. You will also contribute to our internal common software platforms and DevSecOps capabilities.
What You Will Do:
- Guide large enterprise transformations and lead contributions to connect, integrate, and modernize applications.
- Create and drive business and enterprise-level technical architecture roadmaps, evolutions, and transitions
- Drive consistent architecture patterns and practices across multiple teams
- Focus on application portfolio optimization and modernization through process and system transformations.
- Lead technical and design discussions with business teams and executive stakeholders to align on requirements.
- Partner with infrastructure, networking, and cloud teams to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
- Interact with functional and program teams, corporate service teams, and outsourced providers to guide application deployments and system migrations.
- Develop architecture artifacts associated with all phases of the TOGAF Architecture Development Method using Cameo for formal modeling notations.
- Develop and code reusable patterns, building blocks, and reference implementations to standardize solutions and accelerate delivery.
- Conduct technology assessments, proof-of-concepts, and pilot projects to validate feasibility and demonstrate value proposition to stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to agile development teams, to ensure the intended architecture is realized and best practices and standards are followed.
- Mentor developers and elevate their technical abilities and prepare them to step into the role of a solution architect.

Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires bachelor’s degree and minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience or a master’s degree and minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or in lieu of a bachelor’s degree minimum 14 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience architecting, designing, integrating, and deploying enterprise-grade applications.
- Experience deploying and hosting applications with AWS or Microsoft Azure cloud providers.
- Experience with software engineering, development, and architecting applications.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Strong experience with persuasive oral and written communication skills to technical and executive audiences.
- Strong critical thinking skills, ability to exercise independent judgment and manage complexity and ambiguity.
- Experience leading or working with virtual and geographically diverse teams.
- Experience architecting, deploying, building, and supporting 12-factor application solutions in commercial cloud environments (AWS, Azure)
- Strong expertise with web services, API design, and system integration patterns
- Applied software engineering and software development skills with Java, Spring Boot, Python, Flask, and Angular
- Expertise in RDBMS (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases
- Expertise building and evangelizing continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD)
- Experience in DevOps tools, such as Jenkins, Jira, Terraform, Blackduck, Artifactory, Maven, Git, Subversion, Eclipse, Visual Studio Code, JUnit, Selenium, Apigee, Kubernetes/ECS/Docker, Splunk, application observability
- Experience working with agile frameworks, methodologies, and tools, such as Scrum, SAFe, etc.
- Experience with troubleshooting full-stack applications, including load balancers, proxies, application servers, Docker/Kubernetes container orchestration platforms, and databases.
- Experience deploying and integrating large-scale software solutions in a highly regulated and secure industry environment through all lifecycle phases, using infrastructure as code and deployment automations, such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Certification in TOGAF, DoDAF or other architecture frameworks or applied experience developing architecture documentation, models, and views using ArchiMate, UML, BPMN, SysML, etc.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
