In the face of increasing demands for RF communication advances and smaller Size, Weight, Power, and Cost (SWAP-C), Moore’s Law is approaching diminishing returns. Rather than settle for a single technology, new products are increasingly looking at multi-chip modules and heterogeneous computing. 

The Product Enabling Technologies Center provides board support package (BSP) and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) development, verification, and integration support across Collins Aerospace and in Mission Systems in particular.  Our advanced data links products push the envelope for resilient waveforms for communication and technology solutions. 

This is your chance to learn the fundamentals of waveform design, a variety of development flows, and critical thinking regarding algorithm development and implementations. Join a supportive team of Engineers in achieving our goals together! 

What You Will Do:

  • Implement target algorithms based on Matlab reference code 
  • Integrate the algorithms on SoC development boards 
  • Work on a collaborative team with partner interns, mentors, and other engineers 
  • Prepare and present project efforts to a larger audience of engineers 
  • Present at an internal Collins Aerospace Technology Fair 
  • Experience with embedded C/C++ 

What You Will Learn:

  • Agile development flow for planning work 
  • General algorithms and sequencing for modern Signal-in-Space (SiS) waveforms 
  • A variety of development flows (i.e., CPU, RPU, GPU, AI engines, FPGA fabric) 
  • Design of experiments to collect throughput and power utilization data 

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with AMD/Xilinx development boards 
  • Experience with Xilinx Vitis tool  
  • Experience with lab equipment and debug tools such as logic analyzer, oscilloscope, and Wireshark 
  • Experience in scripting (e.g., Matlab, TCL, python)
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and DevSecOps build flows

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
