None/Not RequiredThe Component Engineer serves as the technical resource to the Design, Manufacturing, Program Management, Supply Chain, Quality, etc. Communities for electrical and mechanical component, materials and related process support. The Component Engineer establishes design criteria, specifications, sources of supply, and acceptance criteria for assigned commodities. They are responsible for the documentation of components, processes, technology roadmaps, and design guidelines associated with assigned commodities. The Component Engineer directs Failure and Root Cause analysis and provide technical assistance with; material verification resolution, specification or drawing exceptions, supplier issues, and manufacturing related issues for assigned technologies. The Component Engineer identifies, evaluates, and recommends new components for new product development requirements and for improving existing manufacturing process yields. They support assigned Commodity Teams as the technical lead. Uses independent judgment to make decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities.
What You Will Do:
- Understand preferred technologies, sources of supply, and acceptance criteria for multiple commodities.
- Apply techniques for the documentation and release of components, processes and design guidelines in accordance with department policies.
- Perform Failure and Root Cause Analysis of moderate complexity and corrective action as needed.
- Provide technical assistance with material verification resolution, specification or drawing exceptions, supplier issues, and manufacturing related issues.
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend components, materials and/or manufacturers for new product requirements and for improving existing manufacturing process yields.
- Support assigned Commodity Teams as a technical resource.
- Analyzes parametric data, preference codes, and obsolescence prediction data for assigned projects.
- Design Engineering community support including design development assistance, interfacing, communication, component application issue resolution, and general question/issue resolution.
- General technical support including activities associated with Bidding/Negotiating, Data Collection, and Analysis. Report generation related to technical issues including but not limited to; Hazardous Material, fungus, shelf life, ESD, flammability, etc.
- Actively contributes to and participates in projects as a team member or expert on call.

Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
- Prior experience in component design, as well as managing projects, technical bids, and component testing.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Demonstrate strong problem solving skills and confidence in communicating with others to understand problems and work towards solutions.
- Knowledge of electrical principles and electronic components
- Interpret engineering drawings and vendor data sheets
- Understand and follow processes and procedures for component management
- Perform data analysis on bills of material to ensure customer requirements are met
- Document and report findings to appropriate teams and leadership
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Work as part of cross-functional team

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
