What You Will Do:

Join Our Team as a Principal Engineer – Tooling Support Services (Onsite in East Hartford, CT)

The Commercial Engines Aftermarket Operations organization is excited to announce an opening for a Principal Engineer (P4) to join the Tooling Support Services (TSS) group. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a growing and evolving organization, working at the forefront of innovation within the aerospace industry.

As the Principal Engineer, you will act as the technical advisor for the TSS group, collaborating with cross-functional teams – including Customer Service, Procurement, Suppliers, and Customers – to deliver creative recommendations and solutions for commercial tooling. You’ll also partner closely with the SEO team to ensure compliance and support safety objectives. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, a focus on continuous improvement, and a passion for driving results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Engineering Change (EC), Service Bulletin (SB), or Critical to Quality (CTQ) controlled notifications and their impact on the TSS organization.
  • Respond to SRI’s, interpreting DWG’s to support general inquiries, identifying potential improvements and leading discussions on design change to existing tooling
  • Implement process improvements and provide technical data (TD) changes in response to Supplier Request for Information (SRI) and general inquiries/feedback from the customer base.
  • Establish regular tooling reviews with the supply base and SEO team to identify and address tool performance issues.
  • Lead and execute TSS improvement and growth projects to support organizational goals.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance quality and efficiency by leveraging new processes or technologies.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding and application of continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Expected Travel: 10 - 15% (domestic and international)
  • Qualifications You Must Have
  • Advanced degree and 5+ years of experience in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or general Aftermarket MRO Aerospace industry experience; OR Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant industry experience; OR Associate’s degree or Technical Training (A&P/AMT) and 10+ years of relevant industry experience; OR High School diploma or Military service and 12+ years of relevant industry experience.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM field; Engineering preferred
  • Advanced knowledge and experience working with gas turbine engines ideally within a Disassembly, Assembly & Test (DAT) or FAA Repair Station environment
  • Familiarity with 14 CFR Part 145 as it pertains to a repair station Quality requirements
  • Experience reading and/or interpreting engine manuals and overhaul Quality standards
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement tools (CORE/ACE/SixSigma)
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office, SAP and Solumina G8 or equivalent Engine Maintenance System
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization including senior level management

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
