The Opportunity:
Avantor, a Global Fortune 500 company, is looking for a flexible, forward-thinking and motivated R&D Associate Engineer to optimize our Biopharma Production organization. This Bridgewater, NJ/ Innovation Center role is full-time, on-site.
What We Are Looking For:
Minimum Education Requirement:
- BS/BA in Life Sciences, Engineering, Information Sciences or related with direct laboratory and/or computing course work.
Required Experience: (Bachelor’s 3+ yrs; MS 0 to 1 year; internship or hands-on academic project work will be considered)
- Leveraging/ implementing “As-is” or modifying relevant artificial intelligence (AI)/automation tools and solutions to accelerate creation documents from laboratory results, and to generate insights.
- Designing plans for the digital gathering of data from laboratory experiments, technical documents, and data systems to contribute in the design of scientific predictive modeling of chemical, bioprocesses and/or production systems to facilitate product data analysis and reporting.
- Following computational software, IT language, policies and procedures
- Skilled computing skills (IE: machine Learning, MVA (or equivalent), Machine Learning, and AI platforms).
- Developing and optimizing data management systems that support the implementation of AI workflows to handle routine experimental data from R&D studies including knowledge recorded and stored in multiple sources.
- Working independently and managing responsibilities while following work directions
- Business level verbal and written communication/ presentation skills
- Facilitating the design of a data integrated operating system with information stored in a Data Hub or Lakehouse that enables the execution of multi-variance data analysis to create predictive data modeling using Machine Learning and AI technologies.
- Implementation of an expanded and interconnected data hub; that can be easily accessed by Avantor’s resources and support client-facing AI agent, to enhance customer service experience as needed to drive work under general guidance.
Preferred Experience:
- A basic understanding of technical data from laboratory studies from cell culture, purification, process systems, and results from bioanalytical techniques.
- Following Good Documentation Practices (GDP), to contribute to scientific meetings and project progress monitoring.
- Presenting digitalization advancements, challenges, and mitigation actions at internal or external partner’s meetings.
- Driving coordination and collaboration within R&D and cross-functional groups on company’s key products and application strategies.
- Prioritizing tasks, problem solving, and meeting deadlines.
- Experience in the Biopharmaceutical or Contract Development & Manufacturing industry
- Working in a GLP/GMP facility, and/or relevant industry knowledge
- Perform duties with the highest regard for Safety and Quality
- Reading, analyzing and/ or interpreting technical literature and scientific documents.

The Associate Engineer is responsible for the hands-on execution of digital data processing that supports the analysis of laboratory experiments and contributions to the design of scientific predictive modeling. This position will assist in the development and execution of scientific discoveries, new product/applications growth along with technical data management to drive digitalization and integration of Avantor’s product information. The successful candidate will conduct computational and information technology (IT) work maintaining data integrity and following compliance principles to support products/applications needs in close collaboration with internal and/or external partners. The Associate Engineer in Bioprocess Analytics will set up and implement data digitalization workflows to manage R&D, production and analytical data, under the general direction of peer scientists, project technical lead and/or area manager.

Pay Transparency:
The expected pre-tax pay for this position is
$66,100.00 - $110,200.00Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
