Position Summary:

The Assistant Hourly Trainer (AHT) is responsible for overseeing and ensuring that new hires and internal transfers are properly trained and onboarded. The AHT works with the technical trainer to train team members in production techniques and to ensure they understand all safety and quality expectations. The AHT will have daily contact and communication with all probationary team members during their qualification period. The AHT is responsible for following up on all safety, food safety, or any other issues that are brought forward by team members.  The AHT also functions as a liaison between operations and the Training/Human Resources/OHS/Safety Departments. 

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and guide trainee performance through the qualification period, ensuring they follow the ramp-in program. 
  • Work with the technical trainer to ensure the new/transfer team member is learning the required job skills. 
  • Educate new/transfer team members on USDA rules/regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and sanitation rules. 
  • Coordinate and deliver training. 
  • Coordinate with the supervisor and management regarding training progress. 
  • Update and sustain new hire/transfer training spreadsheets, tracking internal job transfers, start dates, and training progress. 
  • Monitor and advise on workplace safety and safety habits. 
  • Serve as a change champion for programs that support team member engagement. 
  • Drive and support technology engagement for the location (i.e., Beekeeper/Workday/Next Frontier). 
  • Strong communication and people skills with the ability to work cooperatively with others. 
  • Use candor to provide feedback to team members in training to improve performance. 
  • Proficiency in reading and writing; ability to complete on-the-job paperwork, perform evaluations of performance on a daily and weekly basis and effectively communicate across all management levels. 
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Bilingual skills are preferred but not required. 
  • Perform any other work assigned by management. 

Physical Requirements: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.  

  • Must be willing and able to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level 30 pounds or greater frequently. 
  • Must be willing and able to lift/lower/carry up to 30 pounds or greater with back and legs. 
  • The Team Member will work in a fast-paced environment with rapid hand and eye coordination. 
  • The Team Member will frequently flex/grip with wrists/hands. 
  • The Team Member will stand/walk/climb/bend for up to 10 hours. 
  • Working in wet conditions and cold temperatures as low as 0 degrees. 
  • One year of training-related work experience in manufacturing or production. 
  • Shift: 1st Shift - Full Time  
  • Starting Pay: $26.30/hour
