This Full-Time Role Will Cover Mostly Weekend Hours With Flexibility For Weekday Coverage.
General Overview:
This role is a highly skilled and experienced professional responsible for the daily operations and personnel management of the Sterile Processing Department. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of sterile processing principles, regulatory standards, and best practices, combined with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient sterile processing services through effective team management, process optimization, and adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.
Essential Responsibilities
- Supervises and manages a team of Sterile Processing Technicians, providing guidance, training, and support. (10%)
- Assigns tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring appropriate workload distribution. (10%)
- Monitors sterilization cycles, biological indicators, and other quality control measures to verify sterility assurance. (10%)
- Addresses employee performance issues and implements disciplinary actions as needed. (5%)
- Manages employee timekeeping and attendance records. (5%)
- Recruits, interviews, and hires new employees. (5%)
- Schedules staff to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts and areas of the department. (5%)
- Oversees the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department, ensuring efficient and effective workflow. (5%)
- Monitors key performance indicators to track departmental performance and identify areas of improvement. (5%)
- Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. (5%)
- Ensures proper maintenance and operation of all equipment in the department. (5%)
- Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory standards and accreditation requirements (e.g., AAMI, SGNA, TJC). (5%)
- Conducts regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to policies and procedures. (5%)
- Investigates and documents any deviations from established protocols, implementing corrective actions as needed. (5%)
- Maintains accurate records and documentation of all quality control activities. (5%)
- Appropriately interacts with vendors, manages orthopedic implant needs, and orders new instruments and equipment for surgery as directed by manager. (5%)
- Serves as a liaison between operating room and sterile processing. (5%)

Qualifications:
Required
High School/Ged
- Requires Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) at hire:
- 3 years of experience in sterile processing
- 1 year of experience with leadership or management experience
- Certification requirement does not apply to Sterile Processing Technicians who have been employed by a healthcare facility on or before 12/29/2020
- A Surgical Technologist holding an active Certification of Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery Certified (TSC) eligible for role, but must obtain an applicable certification for Sterile Processing within 18 months of holding this position
Preferred
- Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) or other applicable certification for Sterile Processing.
