[What the role is]
The Strategic Policy and Planning (SPP) branch is responsible for driving strategic planning as well as and formulate forward-looking energy policies, initiatives, and roadmaps for EMA and the power sector.[What you will be working on]
As part of a team, you will play a key role in driving EMA’s energy policy development and spearhead our sustainability efforts. As a strategic policy & planning officer, you may be involved in the following roles:
- Drive and develop corporate planning and its processes, including annual workplans, performance measures and indicators, and enterprise risk management
- Develop robust and coherent long-term masterplan for the power sector
- Formulate strategic policies and plans considering the trade-offs and implications of the various decarbonisation trajectories.
- Keep abreast of emerging energy and carbon trends/policies, and assessing their impact and suitability to Singapore’s unique circumstances.
- Steer and support industry development to enable the energy transition
- Coordinate and monitor the development of power sector climate change measures to ensure that we are on track towards meeting our national objectives.
- Facilitate collaboration across key internal and external stakeholders (including government agencies, industry players) on various projects.
We are looking for people with strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to deep-dive into relevant areas to assess trade-offs and extract new insights. You need to be comfortable with navigating ambiguity, be able to problem-solve.
[What we are looking for]
Requirements:
- Keen interest in energy polices/markets/regulations/technologies and public service
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with capability to weigh trade-offs/implications between policy choices and make strategic recommendations
- Comfortable in undertaking desktop research, working with datasets and data tools (e.g. Excel modelling/projections), to support policy analysis and recommendations
- Competent communication and coordination skills to work across teams
- Self-motivated, effective team player
Candidates with relevant experience in policy and planning, particularly in the public sector and/or knowledge in the energy markets/regulations/technologies are strongly encouraged to apply.
