What You'Ll Do:
The position performs tasks as directed by the plant Quality Manager associated with maintaining and improving the ISO-9001 Quality Management System, ensuring the quality of HV cable produced, and helping to improve the overall process and manufacturing flow through quality improvement initiatives. Primary/routine tasks are to provide process performance analysis and problem-solving support. This includes, but is not limited to, product non-conformance root cause investigations, implementation of corrective actions, equipment problem solving, waste/scrap reduction initiatives, improvement of standards and monitoring/enhancement of existing process controls including the procedures and work instructions required for manufacture of high voltage cable. The position requires utilization of problems solving tools identified in a Lean Sigma culture. The Quality Engineer will be expected to spend significant time on the production floor, working within teams and with multiple departments. The Quality Engineer must be comfortable communicating with all levels of the organization as well as client representatives.
Principle Functional Responsibilities:
- MSA Support; QMS Support; Continuous Improvement Support
- Assist in product analysis, process capability and assigned DMIAC projects as applicable.
- Working with the Quality Manager, analyze processes and identify areas of improvement to ensure RTFT (Right the First Time), Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and other Quality KPIs are achieved.
- Investigate quality escapes and facilitate the development, implementation, and verification of actions to close gaps.
- Manage the review and disposition of instances of nonconforming products (NCPs) and initiate formal corrective & preventive actions as appropriate.
- Perform/participate in audits of product and QMS performance, identify gaps in QMS and works to address while maintaining conformance to current revision of ISO9001.
- Evaluate performance against established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions and work with process owners to address improvement opportunities.
- Evaluate performance of product characteristics against design requirements, industry standards and/or customer specifications
- Evaluate production capabilities and recommends improvements.
- Provides manufacturing support with data analysis and evaluations as well as assists in maintaining the Quality Management System.
- Identify and address gauging usage and application through MSA and recommends improvements to address gauging accuracy, stability, and operator influence.

Duties And Responsibilities:
- Preparing and presentation reports by collecting statistical analytics and summarizing data
- Working in accordance with deadlines
- Determining quality improvement factors, implementing methods to inspect, test and evaluate the reliability of manufacturing processes, products and production equipment
- Effectively uses quality tools and techniques to assist in determining compliance to specifications, trends, capabilities, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Experience with QMS management and improvement a must.
- Utilizing Non-Conforming, Root Cause, Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA) tools
- Utilizing FMEA and Control Plan application and meeting
- Demonstrates the ability to work with others efficiently and effectively either one-on-one, as a team, or in a group with a positive attitude.
- Utilizing Problem solving skills may include experience with; ISO QMS Management, documentation creation and management.
- Calm under stressful situations
- Utilize MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint. SPC, Software (Minitab)
- Perform Quality Control inspection reporting and analytics (measurement data, quality characteristics, etc.)
- 50% shop floor / 50% desk work required.
Desired Background
- Minimum of three (3) or more years of quality or engineering experience in a manufacturing environment – required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Programs.
- Knowledge of DMAIC problem solving, MSA (Gage R&R) application and evaluation, basic quality improvement tools (8D, 5WHY, Fishbone, etc.).
- Must be knowledgeable of computer systems and pertinent software.
- SAP experience and Advanced MS Excel capability desired but not required.
- Must possess good interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with good verbal and writing skills.
- Ability to utilize problem solving skills and techniques to achieve problem resolution.
- Experience in Lean/Six Sigma Education
- Quality systems layered process auditing experience.
- ASQ Certification in Quality Engineering is a plus.
- Experience with wire and cable is a plus.
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is a plus.
Education:
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in an Engineering, Science or Technology discipline and 2 years of applicable direct work experience.
OR a non-technical 4-year degree and at least 4 years of applicable direct experience within the Quality field in manufacturing.
OR lieu of a 4-year degree, at least 6 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing quality role and certification(s) showing knowledge of relevant QMS standards and statistical tools.
