Position Description
Anoka County Community Social Services and Behavioral Health (CSS/BH) seeks a full-time Social Worker for our Child Protection Ongoing unit. This role provides case management services to families facing child protection issues, with the goal of addressing those concerns to enhance the safety and well-being of children. Responsibilities include: collaborating with families to resolve child protection concerns and facilitate successful reunification; developing and implementing child-specific out-of-home placement and in-home service plans, documenting progress toward reunification; ensuring children are safe and placed in environments that meet their social-emotional and physical needs; providing crisis management; assessing children and making referrals for support services; and identifying and pursuing relative and non-relative permanency options when reunification is not viable. The position also involves preparing court documents and providing testimony in court.

This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid position. Interviews will take place the weeks of October 13th, 2025 for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.
Pay & Benefits
- Salary: $74,214 to $89,065 annually ($35.68 to $42.82 per hour).
- 2025 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 34: $74,214 to $103,896 annually ($35.68 to $49.95 per hour)

Work Location
- This position will work at the Anoka County Government Center, located at 2100 3rd Ave, Anoka, MN 55303.
- This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work, with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.
- Expected work hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Monitor and assess child safety and well-being.
- Ensure youth have safe and stable living settings.
- Assess children/youth needs and strengths to develop appropriate case plan goals.
- Engage with family systems to develop intentional supportive connections and permanency planning.
- Facilitate the completion of Adoptions and Transfer of Legal and Physical Custody Agreements for children/youth.
- Provide Case Management Support to youth with the Permanency Disposition of Permanent Custody to the Agency (ages 16-18).
- Provide referrals to service providers and coordinate services for children/youth and their caregivers/families.
- Consult with the Anoka County Attorney's Office.
- Attend and participates in court hearings.
Provide Crisis Intervention.
- Maintain case files and records.
- Participate in onboarding new staff.
- Assist with program development for specific programs.
Qualifications And Requirements:
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or a closely related field.
- Two years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience.
- In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle available for business use.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
- Master’s degree or higher in social work or a closely related field.
- Five years or more (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience.
- Direct Child Protection, Permanency or Guardian Ad Litem past experiences.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
Standard Office Environment.
- Occasional lifting of 10 – 20 pounds.
- Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed. Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.
