Position Overview
Zoetis Veterinary Medicine Research and Development, located in Kalamazoo, MI, is seeking a skilled and motivated analytical chemist to join our team as a Senior Associate Scientist or Scientist. This role focuses on developing analytical methods for pharmaceutical active ingredients and drug products, contributing to the advancement of innovative veterinary medicines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop analytical methods for the characterization of drug substances and drug products.
- Serve as the analytical representative on project teams.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, collaborating with cross-functional teams such as formulation, chemistry, safety sciences, regulatory, quality, and manufacturing groups.
- Author, review, and archive technical documents, including test procedures, method validation plans, protocols, reports, stability data, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Support the preparation and writing of regulatory filings.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Chemistry, Laboratory Sciences, or a related discipline, with 7+ years of industry experience, ideally within the pharmaceutical industry
Or
- Master’s degree (MS) in Chemistry, Laboratory Sciences, or a related discipline, with 6+ years of industry experience, ideally within the pharmaceutical industry
Or
- PhD in Analytical Chemistry or a closely related discipline, with industry experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience in executing HPLC assays.
- Experience with Empower software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in developing and executing HPLC assays, with a proven track record in analytical problem solving.
- Demonstrated ability to design, execute, and interpret experimental data, with a clear understanding of project objectives and priorities.
- Proven ability to identify and resolve technical challenges during experimentation.
- Strong commitment to safety, incorporating it into daily planning and laboratory activities.
- Proficiency in effectively communicating technical information, both orally and in writing, including clear and concise reports and presentations.
- Experience with Empower software.
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships within the team and across departments to achieve shared goals.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with modern analytical techniques and instrumentation commonly used in the pharmaceutical industry (e.g., U/HPLC).
- Basic understanding of the pharmaceutical development process.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Proactive and detail-oriented scientist with a technical background in analytical chemistry.
- Demonstration problem-solving skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and a commitment to fostering teamwork and collaboration.
