  • Forecast sales and gross margin that support financial objectives.
  • Bottoms up pre-season forecasting at product category level to align with marketing plan, merchandise strategies and the company’s financial goal (revenue, margin and receipt goal).
  • In-season monthly actualization and reforecasting based on historical sales and business updates.
  • Forecast and manage inventory plan
  • Collaborate with Merchandisers to design inventory strategies that balance the composition of new, core and carry-over merchandise to support financial and margin goals.
  • Monitor weekly sales performance, providing data-driven recommendations for inventory adjustments or promotional strategies tailored to Japan’s retail dynamics
  • Open-to-Buy (OTB) management
  • Projecting sales & gross profit plan and purchase & inventory plan for each category based on sales plan for each store established by Commercial team.
  • Formulate more detailed sales (unit sales, cost, markdown, inventory and gross margin by product category), and SKU plan by store type for each season to be aligned with the budget targets.
  • Design product type, quantity and cost amount to be tied up with product strategy.
  • Support alignment of Japan’s OTB with regional targets, identifying opportunities to improve inventory processes.
  • Contribute to enhancing planning tools (e.g., cMFP) by adopting best practices for Japan’s market.
  • Monitor and analyze sales and margin results at style and color levels against forecasts and make strategic decisions to drive the business on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Identify areas of risk and opportunity. Provide strategic decisions to drive business.
  • Recommend promotional pricing that maximizes sales and margins while balancing inventory.
  • Determine markdown and end-of-life disposition strategies for discontinued products.
  • Perform rigorous ongoing and ad-hoc analysis based on historical performance and product attributes
  • Perform new style launch recap and analysis.
  • Leverage historical data to identify key learnings around product, pricing, marketing impact and inventory, and to apply learnings to future planning.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Finance on inventory communication.
  • Provide monthly updated projections for inventory receipts.
  • Assess and reflect product development issues in financial and receipt forecasts.
  • Resolve escalated backorder, preorder, quality, vendor or inventory issues as needed.
