Job Summary

The Athletic Trainer provides rehabilitation services to professional, competitive, and recreational athletes under the supervision of a consulting physician.  The Athletic Trainer functions as part of a team, including coaches, physicians, athletes, and rehabilitation staff to prevent injuries, provide post injury management, and conduct injury prevention programs.  

Job Qualifications

Education

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Bachelor’s degree from an athletic training education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).

Preferred/Optional: Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or related field.

Experience

Minimum Required: None

Preferred/Optional: Athletic Training outreach with experience providing service to high school athletes.

Certifications/Licenses

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position.  Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) awarded by the American heart association. Certification as an Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification. Licensed as an Athletic Trainer by the State of Wisconsin. Valid State of Wisconsin driver’s license with an acceptable record.

Preferred/Optional: National Academy of Sports Medicine Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES). Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES). National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

Temporary coverage from October 2025 to the end of February 2026. This position is to help cover the responsibilities of a casual staff member. The hours are variable. This person will be responsible for UWSP @ Marshfield coverage as well as some assistance with UWSP events
