Position Summary: Through strong leadership and communication skills, the Director of Nursing leads the department by overseeing operations, staff, budget, and quality of care to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance. An aptitude for problem-solving, excellent organizational skills and the stress management abilities are key to success in this role. Must establish and uphold goals and priorities in accordance with patient, staff, and organizational needs/objectives.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
- Drives throughput initiatives through patient logistics data and physician collaboration.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards of practice; ensuring adherence to legal and ethical standards.
- Ongoing assistance in the monitoring and evaluation of the quality and appropriateness of patient care, facilitating functional outcomes.
- Develop and manage continuous quality improvement initiatives to ensure high standards of care.
- Develop departmental goals and objectives.
- Provide training and support for nursing staff, monitor performance, and advocate for professional development.
- Act as a liaison between nursing staff, doctors, and administrators.
- Collaborates with other healthcare teams to improve patient outcomes.
- Develop, implement, and update nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Assists in addressing and resolving problems dealing with staff, patients, visitors, and significant others.
- Identifies and assists in solving critical administrative problems, reporting appropriately.
- Manage department budget, monitor expenses, and oversee overall department operations.
- Facilitates appropriate action when unsafe environmental factors are identified.
- Promotes a clean and safe environment of care, utilizing the SAFE error prevention habits
Provides the highest standard of privacy and confidentiality in matters involving patients, coworkers, and the hospital by abiding by the Standards of Conduct
Required Qualifications:
Education And Training:
- Graduate of approved program of professional nursing; BSN required; MSN within 2 years of hire.
- Preferred certification in an area of nursing specialty.
- 2 years of progressive leadership experience
- Prior proven hospital/healthcare management/leadership experience.
- Possession of a current license as a Registered Nurse for the State of Illinois.
Cpr Certified.
- 5 years of critical care nursing experience
Age Specific Competency Requirement: Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to the ages served.
