Job Description Summary
The General Manager, Service Sales Japan zone is a key role responsible for driving an integrated commercial strategy, execution, and profitable growth. This leader will oversee full P&L accountability, lead cross-functional teams, and ensure customer satisfaction through innovative solutions, agile organizational design, and deep market engagement. The role requires strong collaboration with the Japan Zone president and commercial teams to deliver value across the healthcare continuum. Key Responsibilities Include:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the commercial strategy for Service Sales across the Japan zone.
- Drive market share growth, customer satisfaction, and profitable revenue.
- Lead strategic planning, financial forecasting, and business reviews for Service Sales.
- Ensure adequate balance & capital allocation across zone for optimal business return.
Commercial Execution
- Own and deliver orders, revenue, and margin targets for Service
- Lead successful NPI launches and lifecycle service offerings, ensuring alignment with customer needs and market dynamics.
- Integrate software, analytics, and digital solutions into core offerings to enhance asset utilization and clinical outcomes.
- Work cross functionally for Care Area value proposition & business model development.
Customer & Market Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) and Digital Opinion Leaders (DOL)
- Leverage market intelligence to identify growth opportunities and competitive advantages.
- Champion value-based selling and pricing strategies tailored to the region’s healthcare landscape.
Organizational Leadership
- Lead and develop high-performing, cross-functional teams across direct and indirect channels.
- Strengthen cross-functional alignment by enhancing communication and cultivating trust within the Zone, Product teams and Functions.
- Foster a culture of accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain top talent, ensuring succession planning and leadership development.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure operational rigor through effective use of commercial tools (e.g., bowler metrics, MORs, LTS, BPR).
- Reviews segments & zone plans / investments and deploy resources to meet financial & operational objectives
- Drive pricing discipline and cost management to protect and grow margins.
- Promote lean practices and EHS compliance across all operations.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s/MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of senior leadership experience in healthcare, with proven success in both equipment and service sales.
- Strong P&L ownership and commercial acumen.
- Deep understanding of service business models.
- Experience managing large, multicultural teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence in a matrixed, global organization.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficient in English.
