Overview Of Role
Global Player allows listeners to enjoy all of Global’s radio brands, award-winning podcasts, expertly curated playlists and wide range of video, in one place in app, on web, on TV, in car and on smart speakers.
As a Product Designer at Global, you will play a key role in designing features and experiences used by millions of people each month. Working closely with cross-functional squads, you’ll deliver intuitive, impactful design work that supports the product’s ambitious goals. You’ll work through end-to-end product design challenges, collaborate with senior colleagues to ensure consistency across platforms, present research and designs to our stake holders and contribute to the evolution of our design system.
This role is ideal for a designer ready to take ownership of their work, develop expertise in product design craft, and make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Design (50%): You will produce high-quality design deliverables across web, mobile, TV, in-car and smart speaker platforms. You will apply and extend Global’s design system to maintain consistency across features, and design cross-platform experiences that contribute to a cohesive and accessible user experience. You will use research, designs and prototypes to articulate and communicate design intent clearly.
- Discovery & Research (20%): You will conduct and support user research, usability testing and competitor analysis. You will translate insights from research and analytics into actionable design recommendations, while identifying opportunities to address user pain points and improve our products.
- Collaboration & Delivery (20%): You will work as part of a cross-functional squad, collaborating daily with Product Owners and Developers. You will contribute to the definition of product features, explaining benefits and rationale clearly, while prioritising tasks effectively. You will seek guidance when required and escalate risks early to ensure smooth delivery.
- Team & Culture (10%): You will share feedback constructively and actively seek input from peers, share your knowledge and best practices, and you will contribute to initiatives that strengthen Global’s design culture and ways of working.
What You’ll Love About This Role
- Think Big: You’ll be responsible for the design of products that are used and loved by millions of people.
- Own It: You’ll take ownership of defined projects and deliver them end-to-end with autonomy.
- Better Together: You’ll collaborate daily with talented designers, developers, and product managers to deliver industry leading products.
- Keep It Simple: There’s no red tape here, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across the business, make fast decisions and prioritise delivery.
What Success Looks Like
In your first few months, you’ll have:
- Gained an understanding of the workings of Global’s business across our Radio, Commercial and Digital divisions.
- Built strong relationships within your squad, the wider design team, and stakeholders across the business.
- Delivered designs for new and existing features across multiple platforms.
- Shown evidence of user-centred thinking through research and design recommendations.
- Contributed to the evolution of the design system with new components and improvements.
What You’Ll Need
- Solid knowledge of end-to-end product design (UX and UI), with 3–5 years’ experience.
- A strong portfolio showing high-quality design work across mobile, web, or other digital platforms.
- Experience in native apps (iOS/Android), responsive web, and ideally smart speakers or TV interfaces.
- Proficiency with industry standard design and prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, Miro).
- Some experience with research and analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Amplitude, Maze, Optimal Workshop, UserZoom).
- Ability to work effectively within agile product development teams.
- A passion for designing intuitive, user-centred experiences.
Please include a portfolio with work examples in your application.
