As Hiringa's Financial Accountant you will support the Finance team and the financial, tax and accounting activities of the Hiringa group of companies across both Australia and New Zealand.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position is critical in ensuring timely completion of financial accounting and analysis, budgeting, tax compliance, and providing financial reporting to the Hiringa Energy leadership team, Board and external stakeholders such as Government funders.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Preparing monthly accounts and supporting annual financial statements.
- Playing a key role in audits, tax filings, and compliance across NZ and AU.
- Shaping budgets, forecasts, and cash flow planning to support business growth.
- Keeping financial and project reporting aligned while managing fixed assets.
- Providing insights and analysis that influence business decisions.
- Helping improve systems, processes, and internal controls.
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders and promoting Hiringa’s mission.
- Contributing to our positive and collaborative team culture.
A Bit About You:
- You will be a Chartered Accountant, with at least 1-2 years experience post CA qualification
- You will have an accounting and/or finance University degree
- You will be great at picking up new systems and have a high proficiency in relevant software packages and the Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- You would have worked in multiple accounting packages (e.g Xero, ERPs) and associated IT systems
- You can apply your working knowledge of IFRS and tax legislation in New Zealand
- You will possess a curiosity for data manipulation and AI tools
Other Skills:
- Proven high-level communication skills (verbal and written).
- High attention to detail and seeking to produce quality work
- Ability to confidently liaise with all levels of staff and management and foster strong relationships
- Self-starter able to work with minimum direction on multiple tasks and to meet deadlines
- Ability to support more than one team member
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work in a confidential manner
