About The Role
As a Wunderwriter Engineering Support Specialist, you’ll be a vital part of our Wunderwriting team supporting SchemeServe’s platform and ensuring the highest product quality. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Providing expert software support, troubleshooting issues, and assisting clients with building and amending insurance schemes.
- Collaborating closely with clients, Wunderwriters, engineers, and product managers to identify, report, and resolve bugs and usability issues.
- Conducting comprehensive testing of schemes, features, and fixes to ensure quality and reliability before deployment.
- Acting as a bridge between Wunderwriting, engineering and product teams, sharing feedback and improvement ideas.
- You’re the perfect fit if you:
- 🛠️ Have experience in software support, quality assurance, or testing—ideally within SaaS or insurance platforms.
- 📝 Are meticulous and detail-oriented, with a talent for documenting issues and reproducing bugs effectively.
🤝 Thrive in a collaborative environment—working with engineers, product teams, and Wunderwriters to deliver seamless support and solutions.
🔍 Have a keen eye for identifying improvements, process enhancements, and potential risk areas.
💻 Know your way around support tools, bug tracking systems, Excel, and basic documentation—coding isn’t required!
🧩 Have a background in insurance or underwriting, with a good understanding of how insurance products are built and supported—nice to have!
We’re looking for someone curious, organised, proactive, and eager to help us uphold high standards while continuously refining our processes.
🌟 A Day in the Life of a Wunderwriter Engineering Support Specialist
Tuesday:
You start the day reviewing open support tickets and bug reports, prioritising issues based on impact and urgency, working very closely with our Obsessive Support team. You then join a quick sync with the engineering team to clarify a tricky bug related to QS validation.
Mid-morning, you investigate reported issues, reproducing bugs and gathering detailed steps for engineers. You document findings thoroughly, attach relevant logs/screenshots, and communicate next steps to clients if needed.
In the afternoon, you run manual scheme tests based on test plans, verifying fixes and identifying any remaining usability hiccups.
Late afternoon, you participate in a cross-functional meeting to discuss upcoming features, providing feedback from your testing perspective and sharing insights on potential risks or areas for improvement.
Your day ends with documenting learning points and planning testing for upcoming releases.
Requirements
Essential:
- 2+ years’ experience in software support, QA, or testing—preferably within SaaS or insurance platforms.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with clients and internal teams.
- Familiarity with bug tracking tools, support ticket systems.
- Ability to interpret technical issues and translate them into clear reports.
- UK-based (although the position is fully remote).
- Previous experience in the insurance / insurtech industry.
- Basic understanding of software development or scripting (not required but a plus).
Nice To Have:
We’d love to hear from you if you’re dependable, inquisitive, and passionate about delivering high-quality support and software solutions!
Note For Recruiters:
We are not currently accepting applications from recruitment companies that we already have a working relationship with. You are welcome to send an email if you really want, but it will be ignored. 😊
About Schemeserve
At its heart, SchemeServe is all about making insurance simple. Our platform helps insurance brokers, MGAs, and insurers design, build, and manage their own insurance products (or ‘schemes’) with ease. Some of our customers build their schemes themselves, while others rely on our expert Wunderwriters—which is where you come in!
We’ve always been a fully remote company, but we still love getting together. Twice a year, we meet in person for Team Retreats - one in March and another in September. These are all about sharing ideas, relaxing, and building real connections. Past retreats have featured everything from archery tag and murder mystery nights to inflatable obstacle courses and axe throwing—so expect some fun!
We’re big on personal growth and love to see our team pushing themselves to learn and develop new skills. Need books, mentoring, or professional development opportunities? We’ve got you covered.
Plus, we offer flexible working, paid days to volunteer for causes you care about, a friendly and supportive team and a relaxed but ambitious company culture.
