Sydney Water is seeking a dynamic and commercially astute Senior Procurement Specialist for a 12-month fixed-term opportunity to deliver best-in-class procurement services across the organisation. This role is pivotal in ensuring the business secures the goods, services, and facilities it requires on time and at the right total cost of ownership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver strategic procurement services that ensure timely access to goods, services, and facilities at optimal total cost of ownership.
  • Partner with business units to provide commercial advice, improve stakeholder engagement, and uphold procurement governance.
  • Support category management by developing and executing strategies that align with business goals and deliver measurable value.
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing activities, from market engagement to contract negotiation and award, ensuring compliance and best practice.
  •  Manage contracts and panels, including renewals, variations, and issue resolution, while supporting consistent contract management processes.
  • Monitor supplier performance, sustainability, and relationships to drive continuous improvement and strategic outcomes.

About You

  • Extensive procurement expertise with 5+ years’ experience in large, complex organisations ideally within a similar sector.
  • Proven ability to lead sourcing projects, negotiate commercial terms, and manage contracts across their full lifecycle.
  • Strong grasp of strategic sourcing and category management, including supplier performance and procurement metrics.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with a proactive approach to collaboration and relationship building.
  • Sharp analytical thinking, able to interpret internal and external data to shape effective procurement strategies.
  • Skilled in documentation and contract development, translating business needs into clear SLAs and evaluation criteria.
  • Experience in the utilities sector particularly electricity, gas, or fleet management is highly desirable. Familiarity with natural gas, electricity metering, or water metering will be viewed favourably.

Essential Requirements:

  • You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident at the time of submitting your application to be considered for this role.

  • Flexibility to travel across Sydney Water sites as required.
