The primary purpose of the Medical Sales Specialist (MSS) is delivering growth within the designated portfolio and territory, through direct proactive engagement with Health Care Professionals, distributors and, where appropriate, patients. This role delivers on our forever caring promise using the tools and material provided by the Marketing team to sell customised solutions, helping to address the growing ‘care gap’ between the support patients want and what healthcare professionals can provide.
The MSS must exhibit commercial acumen, demonstrate clinical expertise and strong product knowledge, build valuable customer relationships and collaborate with internal stakeholders. This role will need to execute with excellence, using the CRM, available data and analytics to inform sales plans and will be measured on achievement of sustained growth against targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain strategic account management plans to drive growth across key accounts, in alignment with both local and national business goals.
- Apply advanced clinical knowledge to educate customers, recommend suitable product solutions, and actively engage in product demonstrations and training sessions.
- Represent the company professionally at key industry events to enhance brand visibility, build networks, and stay informed about market trends.
- Analyze sales performance and customer data to monitor achievements, identify growth opportunities, and inform territory-specific strategies.
- Complete and submit all required reports—including sales, customer interactions, and expenses—accurately and within designated timeframes.
- Utilize CRM systems and adhere to structured sales processes to ensure efficient tracking, planning, and execution of sales activities.
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of the company’s Advanced Wound Care product portfolio and stay updated on competitor products and evolving standards of care.
- Share successful strategies and best practices with team members to foster collaboration, continuous improvement, and collective success.
- Support broader sales and marketing initiatives by identifying customer gaps, proposing targeted strategies, and aligning decisions with overall business priorities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external customers, key opinion leaders, and internal teams (e.g., Customer Service and Customer Care) to enhance customer satisfaction and strengthen competitive positioning.
About You:
To Be Successful You Will:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in sales and/or marketing within the medical device or broader health science industry; wound care experience is highly preferred.
- Strong financial acumen to support sound business decision-making and strategic planning.
- Proven success managing complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders and call points.
- Skilled in developing and executing account or territory plans to meet and exceed sales objectives.
- Deep understanding of the Australian healthcare system, including various funding and reimbursement models.
- Experience selling in both public and private hospital settings is essential; familiarity with distributor channel sales is highly regarded.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly, develop relationships across diverse groups, and confidently present to healthcare professionals at all levels.
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to identify needs and deliver tailored solutions that meet expectations.
- Politically savvy with a clear understanding of organizational dynamics, influence structures, and how to position ideas effectively to gain support.
- Self-driven and goal-oriented, with high standards, strong initiative, and the ability to work independently; proficient in MS Office and CRM systems, with a willingness to learn new technologies.
