We’re looking for a Gurugram-based proofreader (‘Research editor’) for a full-time role in our Editorial Integrity team, part of a dynamic company offering great benefits and flexibility.
You’ll work closely with our energy analysts and consultants across Asia Pacific and beyond to proof their reports so they align with our in-house style guide and tone of voice, feedback to authors so they know how to improve their writing and deliver writing training across the organisation.
Our aim is for our reports and client deliverables – which cover the energy spectrum, from renewables to mining and metals, oil and gas to petchems – to be as clear, accessible and engaging as possible. We take quality seriously, and that’s where you step in.
About you and how you can excel in this role: You’ll understand how proofing works, know what good writing looks like and have great ideas about how we can help analysts and consultants to keep improving with each report they write.
Here’S What We’Re Looking For:
- At least two years’ experience in a similar proofreading role
- BA in English, communications or journalism or BS in geosciences with exceptional written skills
- English language skills to a native speaker-level proficiency, with impeccable grammar
- Training and coaching skills to help non-writers develop their skills; experience in training ESL learners a plus
- Knowledge of renewables, oil and gas, mining and metals, power or petchems helpful
- Ability to communicate across cultures with tact and diplomacy
About the role: The Research Editor position is part of Editorial Integrity. Our objective is to provide our analysts and consultants with the training, resources and proofreading services they need to produce engaging and polished reports for our clients. You’ll contribute across all three pillars, but particularly in your proofreading capacity, where you’ll be expected to manage your workflow, engage with relevant stakeholders and proofread a steady flow of reports in a timely manner, explaining your amends where relevant so the user learns for next time. You will also help manage the style guide, updating and amending as the need arises, communicate any new guidance or tips and maintain our editorial hub on Sharepoint.
You’ll help to deliver editorial training – short courses in writing, proofing and headlines, for instance – over Teams (and, occasionally, in person) as well as contribute ideas and suggestions for new training where you see a particular need.
You’ll also work closely with a handful of ESL analysts to coach them in regular 121s where needed. And you’ll liaise with line managers across Research to provide guidance on addressing any quality issues.
In short, you’ll be a critical player in helping WoodMac to communicate clearly and professionally with our clients.
