Job Purpose or Objective(s): Promote the Higher Education Program and fellow programs within the Choctaw Nation while aiding students throughout the United States and world reaching their educational goals. You will report to the Director of Higher Education.

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

$28.25/ Hour

Primary Tasks:

  1. 1.       Reviews, audits, and verifies complex student files and determines award for Higher Education Scholarship based on criteria written in policies to ensure that the programs continue to fund eligible students.
  2. 2.       Answers HEP emails, calls and inputs transcript and other admission and record document data into OneTribe, Laser fiche, and other programs.
  3. 3.       Prepares award notification letters for students and schools, canceled letters and routine correspondence.
  4. 4.       Organize presentations to be given at multiple workshops and conferences to promote the Higher Education Program.
  5. 5.       Recruit students for programs through school visitations, college fairs, Choctaw Nation events, and community meetings nationwide.
  6. 6.       Completes and prepares reports pertaining to degree audit and admission informational data by evaluating transcripts with the highest degree of accuracy and promptness according to standards.
  7. 7.       Assist with the implementation and planning of the biennial Choctaw Nation College Connect event through purchasing, promotion, set up and tear down.
  8. 8.       Establishes and maintains a variety of general files and records which include confidential information.
  9. 9.       Helps write and revise procedure manuals and admission record informational documents.
  10. 10.   Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or related study; OR equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Extensive training is required regarding the evaluation of high school and college transcripts, and international credentials
  • Associate must be familiar with FERPA regulations as they apply to the Higher Education program
  • Two (2) years of administrative experience in educational or related field
1.       You will review student files and determine award based on the student’s grades, credit hours earned, and other  criteria to ensure that the program continues to fund eligible students. 2.       Answer HEP emails, calls, and enter data into Tribal Assistance Manager, Laser fiche, or forwards to appropriate  destination. 3.       Prepare award notification letters for students and schools, pay forms for Finance, probation/suspension letters and routine correspondence. Enter data into JDE and RJS. 4.       Plan presentations to be given at multiple workshops and conferences to promote the Higher Education Program. 5.       You will recruit students for program through school visitations, college fairs, Choctaw Nation events and community meetings. 6.      Complete reports on student data, productivity and retention to help create program procedure. 7.      Help plan the annual Choctaw College Connect event through purchasing, promotion, set up and tear down. 8.  Perform other tasks as may be assigned. ·         Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education or related study, or 4 years directly related experience. ·         Strong interpersonal and time management skills ·         Ability to work independently and communicate both orally and in writing ·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets), Database skills and scanner  knowledge. ·         Training is required regarding the evaluation of high school and college transcripts, and international credentials ·         Associate must be familiar with FERPA regulations as they apply to the Higher Education program ·         Two (2) years of administrative experience in educational or related field
