This internship is perfect for students who are organized, detail-oriented, and curious about data and energy systems. You’ll gain hands-on experience pulling and analyzing data, presenting insights to teams and management, and learning how ISO keeps the grid reliable while supporting the clean energy transition.

Department Description:
The Internal Market Monitoring (IMM) Group protects both consumers and market participants in New England’s wholesale electricity markets. The team mitigates the impacts of uncompetitive bidding, identifies market design issues and potential manipulation, and evaluates overall market performance. IMM brings together expertise in economics, engineering, financial analysis, data science, and law to ensure fair and efficient electricity markets.

What You’ll Be Working On:
As a Market Data Analyst Project Intern, you will:
• Work with a multidisciplinary team to monitor wholesale market outcomes and participant behavior.
• Pull and analyze complex market data to identify trends and insights.
• Create clear, easy-to-understand visualizations and reports for internal teams and management.
• Research, document, and share new methodologies or tools to enhance team knowledge and efficiency.
• Gain exposure to electricity market operations and ISO New England’s role in ensuring efficient, reliable, and clean energy markets.

You'll transform raw market data into actionable insights that help drive key business decisions. Your work will support accurate market analysis, improved forecasting, and give you hands-on experience with data analytics tools and real world energy market operations.

This is a U.S. based role. If the successful candidate resides outside of the U.S., relocation will be required.
