About the role and department
for our Biomedicine and Life Sciences Books team at Springer Nature. We are a global team working on scientific books within the Springer imprint.
Purpose of the Role
Associate Editor is responsible for acquiring new content and for managing/developing a scientific book program.
Responsibilities
- Management of existing program (book series, individual titles) in biomedical sciences in coordination with the Executive Editor
- Identification of suitable book topics
- Acquisition of editors/authors for book projects and support during implementation
- Participation in scientific conferences and meetings to maintain contacts and build networks
- Conception and coordination of book projects in various stages of the publication process
Experience
- Educated to degree level in biomedicine, life science, or similar; preferably with doctoral degree
- Proven knowledge of journal or book publishing process and related matters (desirable)

- Good organizational and negotiation skills
- Very good written and spoken English language skills
- High degree of communicative and social competence
- Ability to work in a team, but also independently and with a high degree of initiative
- Good time management skills
- Takes ownership to drive and complete tasks
Willingness To Travel
- Very good MS Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), as well as the willingness to familiarize yourself with other IT systems
