About This Role
This role is dedicated to designing internal-facing applications that empower our employees to deliver exceptional experiences to our customers and clients.
Embedded within a large software development team, the Senior Product Designer works alongside analysts, developers, and product leads to deliver internal-facing user experiences with a focus on streamlining business processes, simplifying our systems, and delighting users.
This work is part of a broader theme of transforming business processes and modernising technology platforms that support policy administration, payment processing, intermediary management, and B2B financial processes.
The role collaborates with stakeholders across frontline and back-office teams to build strong relationships, understand processes and user needs, engage in co-design, and foster shared ownership. A key responsibility is prioritising and balancing user needs with technical constraints and business value, ultimately driving system adoption, achieving program goals, and delighting both employees and customers.
On a regular basis you will:
- Design high quality experiences and user interfaces for internal users
- Conduct user research with internal users and subject matter experts
- Create prototypes and validate these via sessions with stakeholders (often remotely)
- Work with difficult problems as well as complex constraints, requirements, and ideas
- Design flows that are pragmatic, intuitive and remove or abstract away complexity
- Deliver development-ready designs and work with different development squads to see designs through to implementation
- Facilitate collaborative design, working closely with end users, subject matter experts, analysts, product leads and developers
- Develop a strong understanding of the domain, business processes, and existing systems
- Contribute to presentations and artefacts that communicate product vision and roadmap
- Manage design lifecycle including tracking design versions and organising designs for consumption by a number of squads
About You
In addition to strong design skills, you are a team player with strong communication skills, enabling you to build effective and fruitful relationships within the software development team and across the organisation. You are motivated to deeply understand and solve problems and are able to drive initiatives through to completion. You are at-home in a software development team.
You will bring unique perspectives and ideas to the table and confidently express your views while also remaining open to alternative viewpoints. You will be open to adapt when new information arises.
Additionally, You Will Have:
- 3 or more years working in product, interface or interaction design
- 2 or more years working in a software development team/software engineering environment
- Experience designing internal-facing web applications and experiences
- Experience conducting user interviews and design socialisation sessions remotely
- Strong proficiency in Figma and other design tools
- Strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving skills
- The ability to play or grow into a senior role within the product delivery team – e.g., eventually acting as a subject matter expert, leading some pieces, facilitating occasional agile ceremonies and driving your designs through development to delivery
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work autonomously and be well organised
- Strong technical awareness – some exposure to writing or editing code would be a plus but is not essential
