Access Services Assistant

Responsibilities

Responsible to the Access Services Supervisor for training and supervising student employees with daily circulation tasks, overseeing stacks maintenance, providing customer service, and assisting with interlibrary loan. This is a full-time position and pays $20-$21/hr.

Duties:

• Trains and supervises student employees in daily tasks 
• Provides customer service by assisting library users, answering routine questions, and staffing the Circulation Desk as needed
• Runs prebuilt reports in the library management system 
• Assists Interlibrary Loan Coordinator with interlibrary loan as needed
• Operates cash register and credit card terminal and reports sales transactions
• Assists with library study space reservations
• Responsible for opening the building on weekdays
• May work evenings or Saturdays on occasion
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Prior library experience preferred
• Willingness to learn library software systems
• High accuracy with details
• Valid driver’s license required

Physical Requirements

The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 40 pounds, to push or pull wheeled carts loaded with books, and to correctly distinguish letters and numbers printed on physical books and labels.
