Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

We are seeking an emerging scholar in Finance with strong research potential and a passion for teaching. You will contribute to advancing Finance within the School by:

  • Developing a high-quality research portfolio with outputs in leading journals and contributions to financial practice and policy.
  • Supervising and mentoring postgraduate students at Master’s and doctoral levels.
  • Enhancing the University’s national and international profile through publications, conferences, and collaborations with academic and industry partners.
  • Delivering engaging, research-informed teaching in Finance across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Salary will be in the range of $90,125 to $107,452 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based on our Tauranga Campus.

You will hold (or be close to completing) a PhD in Finance and bring strong knowledge across corporate finance, financial markets, and investments. With an emerging track record of quality research and publications, you are passionate about building your research profile and contributing to debates in the discipline.

You are an engaging teacher, confident in lecturing, leading seminars, and using innovative approaches - including online delivery to inspire students at all levels. Collegial and collaborative, you are eager to supervise postgraduate research, attract funding, and contribute to the life of the School and University.

Expertise in FinTech will be an advantage.
