About This Opportunity
The Senior Business Systems Analyst is responsible for leading business analysis activities to translate complex business requirements into strategic system designs for the University of Queensland’s large ERP systems. As a senior escalation point within the team, the role provides expert advice, mentoring, and support to colleagues while ensuring system and process designs align with the broader enterprise applications portfolio. Working closely with both technical teams and business stakeholders, this position plays a pivotal role in bridging operational needs with innovative technology solutions, driving efficiency, and enabling effective service delivery across the University.
Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Analysing business processes, operational requirements, and opportunities to identify and design effective solutions across automated and non-automated processes.
- Translating business requirements into high-quality functional and technical documentation, including process flows, use cases, data models, and workflow diagrams.
- Preparing business cases, assessing feasibility, and recommending solutions that align with enterprise standards and deliver measurable benefits.
- Providing advice, mentoring, and acting as an escalation point for complex issues, while supporting continuous improvement, change management, and project delivery.

About You
You are an experienced business systems professional with deep expertise in ERP platforms and a proven ability to bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions. With strong analytical skills and a collaborative approach, you are adept at designing effective systems, mentoring colleagues, and delivering high-quality solutions in complex environments.
You Will Also Demonstrate:
- Qualifications equivalent to a postgraduate degree in IT, business, or a related field, or extensive relevant experience supported by professional development.
- Significant experience in business analysis and requirements gathering across ERP platforms, including solution design and delivery.
- Significant experience using Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions applications.
- Strong skills in business process modelling, data and systems documentation, and IT solution design within large enterprise systems.
- Proven experience applying agile development practices and working with software development lifecycle methodologies.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and precise technical and user documentation.
- Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills, with demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and implement innovative solutions within established frameworks.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, etc.
