The Material Controller II plays a critical role in ensuring the effective flow of materials and equipment required to support Worley’s construction, installation, and project delivery activities. This position safeguards the accuracy, availability, and timely movement of resources that enable projects to progress smoothly, while aligning with Worley’s commitment to delivering sustainable change. The role directly supports engineering, procurement, and site operations teams to achieve project goals within schedule and budget, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and Worley’s sustainability objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Review engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and product specifications to determine material requirements with precision and accuracy.
- Document material needs, including product codes, brands, quantities, and supplier details, ensuring clarity and traceability throughout the procurement process.
- Maintain and operate the materials control system on site, overseeing the receipt, inspection, storage, and distribution of materials and equipment to support construction and installation.
- Coordinate closely with engineering, procurement, and project teams to adjust orders based on existing inventory, conventional sizing, and project-specific needs.
- Monitor material movements, reconcile variances, and ensure accurate reporting of usage, availability, and delivery timelines.
- Provide input to optimize material control processes, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and align with sustainability targets.
- Support the integration of digital systems, data-driven tools, and reporting platforms to enhance visibility and decision-making across the supply chain.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure that all material control activities comply with safety standards, quality requirements, and environmental practices aligned with Worley’s commitment to a more sustainable world.
Qualifications / Skill Set
- University degree in supply chain, engineering, construction management, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
- Proven experience in materials control, supply chain, or logistics within engineering, energy, chemicals, or resources sectors.
- Proficiency in reviewing and interpreting engineering documents, technical specifications, and project drawings.
- Strong understanding of materials management systems, processes, and digital tools, with the ability to troubleshoot and guide others.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently under minimal supervision, prioritize competing demands, and recommend solutions to complex challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and influence outcomes.
- Experience leading or mentoring team members, assigning activities, and providing technical guidance on shared projects.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities, grounded in both practical experience and sound judgment.
- Commitment to delivering results safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Worley’s sustainability ambitions and customer expectations.
