As a Compliance Risk Management Lead supporting the Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk organization, you will be responsible for managing Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) related issues connected to Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) Payments/Financial Institutions Group, reporting directly to the Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC) Payments Lead. You will consider global compliance issues as you challenge the business to address AML risks related to domestic and foreign payments clients and digital asset service providers. You will need to be able to build strong relationships with business and support leadership directly, providing your input on matters relating to financial crime, and operational risks. 

You are required to be a detail-oriented individual who can understand complex transactional flows, and work through some of the complexity with peers. You will work with your global counterparts to align on frameworks for processes and risk tolerance where appropriate. Your strong knowledge of the AML risk in the blockchain environment and your keen awareness of industry trends and emerging typologies will be crucial in this role. You will work collaboratively across the firm and need to understand treasury payment flows and remain current on regulatory guidance and expectations. Additionally, you will be part of a leading Financial Crimes Compliance organization responsible for developing requirements and standards for the Firm's Enterprise-Wide AML and Sanctions Programs. 

The GFCC Program includes the oversight and coordination of AML and sanctions coverage across the firm, the development of policies, procedures and standards designed to address regulatory guidance, including heightened expectations, and the implementation of GFCC activities. GFCC is comprised of Line Of Business (LOB), regional and core function teams. LOB and regional teams provide appropriate challenge to the controls created by the LOB’s. The core function teams provide oversight of control processes such as customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, suspicious activity / currency transaction investigations and reporting, risk assessment, training, testing, governance, policies, procedures and internal controls.           

Job Responsibilities

  • Support sales team through the interpretation and implementation of the GFCC Anti-Money Laundering/Know Your Customer processes, assessment of the control environment, OFAC/Sanctions and client Anti-Corruption Compliance
  • Manage day-to-day AML compliance issues and escalations relating to Correspondent Banking, FinTech and digital asset service providers
  • Provide feedback on new business initiatives, change management and assess the financial crime risk impact on new products and services
  • Stay current in regulatory guidance and updates on digital asset matters and communicate to management on relevant topics that impact financial crime risks 
  • Analyze and report on trends relating to financial crime and emerging risks and be able to provide feedback on the impact to CIB’s clients and products
  • Set a positive culture of professional development, collaboration and efficiencies

Required qualification, capabilities and skills

  • 6+ years of work-related experience working in Risk Management and Compliance at a Global Financial Institution 
  • Solid understanding of global payment flows and cryptocurrency environment
  • Expert level knowledge and implementation of programs around GFCC Anti Money Laundering/Know Your Customer processes, assessment, The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)/Sanctions and client Anti-Corruption Compliance
  • Experienced understanding of the public blockchain and the major players in the digital assets, including the appropriate mitigants for financial crime related risks.
  • High proficiency & demonstrated experience in presenting and advising senior leadership and regulators
  • Ability to assess controls and processes to leverage further opportunities for automation / technological advancement 
  • Strong ability to communicate clear vision and direction 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, inquisitive nature and comfort challenging current practices
  • BA/BS degree required
