We are looking for an enthusiastic Technical Procurement Placement Student to join our team specializing in Purchasing for our Corporate/CBS Business Segment in UK, Huddersfield. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!
This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence Summer of 2026.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Prototype procurement including order management, expediting components globally, and supporting sourcing for validation and test work in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Build and develop supplier relationships, including onboarding new suppliers and facilitating feedback on design, manufacturing processes, and costings to drive continuous improvement.
- Support procurement and supplier risk management activities with the global technical sourcing team, including confidentiality agreements and supplier performance monitoring.
- Collaborate with engineering functions and business units across Cummins to ensure deliverables are met in line with test requirements and new product development.
- Manage documentation, data analysis, and contribute to improving procurement processes, tools, and resources.
- Prepare and present project updates, supporting innovation in products, processes, and technologies while gaining foundations in procurement, supply chain, and project management.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- College, University or equivalent degree in a field appropriate for the function required such as Industrial, Logistics, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Management or Finance
- Basic knowledge of supply chain practices; Awareness of purchasing ethics and risk management.
- Structured approach to problem solving and of project management, combined with the ability to manage concurrent project and deal with various priorities; Demonstrate working to committed deadlines.
- IT literate, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and online communication tools. Ability to work independently as well as to work as part of a team.
