FMC is seeking a detail-oriented and strategically minded Customs Specialist to join our dynamic EMEA Supply Chain team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the compliant and efficient movement of goods across international borders, directly impacting our ability to deliver products on time and uphold our reputation for operational excellence.

As the final checkpoint in our supply chain, you will be responsible for managing customs-related activities including Inward Processing Relief (IPR)Outward Processing Relief (OPR)Bonded Warehousing, and Import/Export operations. You will also play a key role in supporting customs compliance, risk mitigation, and process optimization across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  6. 6. Process Optimization & Documentation
  7. 7. Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Maintain and update Harmonized System (HS) codes in master data systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Analyze product documentation to determine origin status, including eligibility for EU origin.
  • Prepare and issue EUR1 certificates under preferential trade agreements.
  • Manage IPR operations for designated countries (e.g., Denmark, Germany, France).
  • Prepare and submit accurate declarations and statements to local customs authorities.
  • Monitor and report on materials processed under IPR/OPR regimes.
  • Define and manage materials designated for bonded warehousing within the EU.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and submission of required documentation to customs authorities.
  • Support renewal and application processes for bonded warehouse authorizations.
  • Coordinate import documentation and provide clear instructions to customs agents.
  • Collaborate with Logistics and Order Management teams to ensure export compliance.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls for import/export procedures.
  • Ensure full compliance with customs regulations and internal policies across the EMEA region.
  • Identify opportunities for tariff suspensions and duty relief schemes.
  • Support applications for customs authorizations and regulatory approvals.
  • Lead initiatives to simplify and standardize customs processes.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and SOPs for all customs-related activities.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
  • Prepare finance reports related to customs duties, taxes, and savings.
  • Liaise with customs authorities, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Represent FMC in audits and regulatory reviews as needed.

Qualifications & Competencies

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in customs operations, international trade, or logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of EU and EMEA customs regulations, including IPR, OPR, and bonded warehousing.
  • Proficiency in HS classification, rules of origin, and EUR1 certificate issuance.
  • Experience with SAP and other master data management systems.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
