Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products portfolio includes are Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Within Azure Data, the Microsoft Fabric platform team builds and maintains the operating system and provides customers a unified data stack to run an entire data estate. The platform provides a unified experience, unified governance, enables a unified business model and a unified architecture. In Azure Data, the OneLake team is building OneLake: Microsoft Fabric’s single, unified data lake for the entire organization. OneLake streamlines data management by bringing all data together into a central, consistent platform, making it easier to access, govern, and analyze at scale.

We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to join the team and help shape the future of OneLake. In this role, you will focus on delivering capabilities that make data easier to discover, connect, use across services, formats, and teams. You will work closely with engineering, design, and partner teams to deliver user-centric solutions that simplify how organizations work with data in Microsoft Fabric, with emphasis on open data formats, open-source integration, and support for technologies like Apache Iceberg to ensure broad interoperability and openness.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the product roadmap for OneLake, focusing on simplifying data access, management, and discovery across Microsoft Fabric.
  • Drive the development of shortcut capabilities that virtualize external data into OneLake, enabling users to access data without movement or duplication.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, design, and partner teams to deliver scalable, high-impact features that enhance interoperability across services.
  • Define and lead the product roadmap for OneLake, focusing on simplifying data access, management, and discovery across Microsoft Fabric.
  • Drive the development of shortcut capabilities that virtualize external data into OneLake, enabling users to access data without movement or duplication.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, design, and partner teams to deliver scalable, high-impact features that enhance interoperability across services.
  • Engage with customers and internal stakeholders to gather feedback, validate scenarios, and ensure product decisions align with real-world data challenges.
  • Communicate product vision, priorities, and updates effectively across teams, and support internal readiness and external adoption efforts.
  • Embody our culture and values.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development.
  • 2+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (e.g., design, addressing product market fit, and launch, internal tool/framework).                                                                                 
  • OR equivalent experience.     

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development.
  • 3+ years of product management experience for a SaaS product or service.
  • 4+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
  • 4+ years experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g., competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product).
  • Understanding of product development and launch practices/processes.
  • Previous experience of bringing a new product to market and owning an in-market product.
  • A growth hacker with passion for solving user problems backed with sharp analysis of data.
  • The ability to wear many hats, learn quickly and change direction when needed.
  • The ability to think creatively and critically about product features, architecture, and capabilities. 
  • OR equivalent experience.

Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
