The Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Operating Unit (OU) is a newly formed team with a bold mission: to consolidate, simplify, and accelerate Microsoft’s presence across the DIB landscape. This expansive network includes over 100,000 organizations specializing in manufacturing, aviation, cybersecurity, and more—all united in their support of all Federal Agencies, including the U.S. Department of Defense and other mission-based intelligence and civilian organizations.

The DIB OU will directly manage and accelerate strategic and major DIB accounts across MCAPS Americas, while also enabling growth across other OUs and SME&C. We’re building new relationships, transforming legacy operations, and helping our customers modernize with confidence.
We are looking for a Cloud Solution Architect – Data with a passion for solving complex data challenges and enabling customers to modernize their data platforms and analytics capabilities. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation—designing secure, scalable, and intelligent data solutions that unlock mission-critical insights. As a Data CSA in the DIB Operating Unit, you will play a critical role in advancing Microsoft’s mission to support national defense and security through data-driven innovation. You’ll engage with some of the most secure and high-impact environments globally, helping customers leverage Microsoft’s data solutions to protect sensitive information, enable secure AI, and drive digital transformation.
This position is part of a newly formed team supporting the Defense Industrial Base—a $400B+ sector encompassing Tier 1–3 defense partners. You will be responsible for delivering deep technical expertise in data architecture and analytics, driving usage excellence, and accelerating adoption of Microsoft’s data platform across classified and sovereign environments.

Responsibilities
Role Responsibilities:
- Responsible for leading the modernization of customer data estates using Microsoft’s cloud-native services by designing and deploying secure, scalable architectures with Azure Data Services, Synapse, Fabric, and Purview.
- Aligning data platform strategies to mission outcomes, especially in regulated and classified environments.
- Supporting both commercial defense contractors and federal agencies through tailored data solutions, integrating Zero Trust principles, data governance, and compliance frameworks (e.g., ITAR, CMMC, FedRAMP).
- Ensure data security across GCC, GCCH, and sovereign cloud environments and collaborate with security CSAs to deliver Purview, Information Protection, and Insider Risk Management capabilities.
- Proficiency in opportunity identification, business acumen, and operational excellence. Ability to lead architecture whiteboarding sessions and live demos.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 4+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport.
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical expertise in Azure Data Services, Synapse, Databricks, Fabric, and Purview.
- Experience delivering data platform modernization in regulated or classified environments.
- Familiarity with MCEM, Unified Delivery, and Factory engagement models.
- Proven ability to drive customer adoption, usage, and renewals in enterprise environments.

Cloud Solution Architecture IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
