Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of medical clinics and outpatient facilities. Liaises with patients and healthcare professionals, and coordinate patient care plans. Manages budgets and billing, appointing staff, and assigning tasks.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. People-Creates a working environment that promotes positive employee engagement, adherence to company policies, effective communications, collaboration, innovation, optimal productivity and continuous learning. Assures that systems are in place to ensure appropriate resources and competent team members.
- Cost/Budget-Directs department operations on a continuous basis and advises leadership team on operational and functional improvement opportunities. Ensures that budget monitoring processes are in place and that appropriate action plans are established to address variances outside of established parameters. Identifies and implements ways to reduce and control expenses, as well as enhance revenues in the hospital and assigned areas of coverage. Ensures team awareness of productivity and cost impact on organization.
- Service-Focuses team on continuously building customer extraordinary caring/satisfaction for patients, physicians, colleagues, the community and other departments served. Engages team in continually raising the bar in service excellence.
- Growth-Communicates effectively as hospital/system advocate to members of the community, continually seeks ways to promote organization to the public.
- Quality-Assures that implementation of standards of professional practice occurs, reviewing and revising according to policy or as necessary to reflect changes in practice and to ensure safe, effective and efficient patient care. Develops with interdisciplinary teams a system wide quality review program for all areas of coverage. Ensures compliance with local, state, federal rules and regulations, OSHA, MBSAQIP and and JCAHO standards.
- Physicians-Promotes and maintains harmonious and effective relationships with physicians. Develops collaborative models for structured communications and strategic, program and quality initiatives.
- MBS Coordinator-Assesses & coordinates with nursing management to develop standards of nursing care based on current literature, research & practice, as well as, assisting with the planning & coordination of symposiums/workshops/educational in-services for professionals in the field of bariatric surgery. Acts as liaison between surgeons, office staff and the hospital on implementation & operation of the bariatric program. Maintains bariatric program statistics; develop monthly, quarterly and annual reports. Direct liaison to Bariatric Section Chief (Medical Director) to maintain quality of care, performance of best practices amongst the surgical/medical bariatric staff. Assists in the coordination & development of support groups for bariatric patients and their families & serve as moderator as needed. Designs/ delegates to content experts development of patient education materials that are culturally & educationally appropriate for the targeted audience, as well as, providing/delegating in-patient education/post-op instruction to bariatric surgical patients. Coordinates with nursing management & surgeons in conducting continuous quality improvement projects to assess & assure positive patient outcomes are being achieved. Assists in maintaining regulatory designations for bariatric program (MBASQIP). Oversees MBSCR and compliance with the MBSAQIP database. Assists Metabolic Medicine/Weight & Wellness Center with coordination of services for pre/post-operative bariatric patients; developing nursing/clinical protocols for non-surgical/metabolic population as needed.
- Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members to assess and establish plans of care.
- Mentors team in all aspects of caring for patients.
- Ensures current proficiency of knowledge regarding Medicare COPs and Joint Commission standards.
