An Exciting Career Awaits You
At MPC, we’re committed to being a great place to work – one that welcomes new ideas, encourages diverse perspectives, develops our people, and fosters a collaborative team environment.
We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Advanced Practice Provider (APP). This role begins with a 3–4-year assignment supporting Project Alliance, in Texas City, TX, as well as clinical cross coverage for the nearby Galveston Bay Refinery. Upon completion of this assignment, the APP will transition into a role, supporting other clinics, programs, or initiatives throughout the organization. It may, therefore, be necessary to relocate at that time.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical leadership and the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. This role plays a key part in managing work related injuries and illnesses and promoting total worker wellbeing and fitness for duty.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership for the Project Alliance onsite occupational health clinic. Mentor contracted health care professionals and staff in the delivery of professional clinical services.
- Provide collaborative clinical cross coverage for the Galveston Bay Refinery and other Marathon Petroleum assets.
- Promote Health Services strategic direction in support of total worker health and wellbeing to increase the resilience and reliability of the workforce.
- Lead the occupational health center of excellence focusing on electronic medical record system clinical workflows, clinician onboarding program, and serve as the SME for clinical based corporate standards.
- Perform a variety of clinical evaluations for workers, including medical surveillance, fitness-for-duty, pre-assignment/pre-placement, return-to-work, and DOT examinations.
- Provide specialty services such as drug and alcohol testing, medical screenings and immunizations.
- Foster a culture of trust and confidence with employees, internal stakeholders, and contractors
- Maintain standards for high quality clinical care, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for employee and contracted medical services.
- Provide and oversee medical management of work-related injuries and emergency response coordination with clinic staff, local emergency teams, and municipal rescue personnel.
- Support medical response during incidents, including after-hours calls and staffing for projects, outages, and turnarounds (TAR).
- Lead the systematic management of medical leave cases, focusing on safe and timely return-to-work outcomes.
- Ensure confidentiality of medical records in compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and ADA regulations. Enforces procedures for preserving confidentiality, while allowing access to those with a bona fide need to know.
- Post-project responsibilities will include the continuation of the above duties, with added expectations to travel or relocate to address staffing needs, provide coverage for new clinic openings, or support additional projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in nursing or master’s or bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant studies.
- Position requires an active and unencumbered Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner licensed with national certification relevant to the population you’ll serve.
- At least 5 years’ experience in occupational health, urgent care or emergency room setting. 8+ years of experience preferred.
- Ability to evaluate complex medical situations and worker injuries independently, within scope of practice, with an ability to identify and elevate complex medical cases.
- Ability to make sound judgments regarding fitness-for-duty and return-to-work evaluations.
- Skilled in managing medical emergencies and collaborating with internal and external response teams.
- Completes OSHA/DOT mandated exams independently.
- Manages/supports local Case Management requiring little support from supervision.
- Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and other relevant regulations governing occupational health.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a fluid work environment, including after-hours support for projects, outages, and turnarounds.
As an energy industry leader, our career opportunities fuel personal and professional growth.
