Description
The Building Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and safety of members, participants and staff during the evening facility hours and on weekends. The Building Supervisor is responsible for giving tours, provide assistance when needed to member service staff and handle emergencies in a professional manner.
Know-How
The Building Supervisor must be CPR/AED certified within 60 days of employment. Incumbent must be able to work with all ages and abilities of members, guests and staff in the building. The Building Supervisor must be able to respond to any situation in a professional and respectful manner. They must be able to do the various tasks of this job with little or no supervision from senior staff.
Hours
Applicant must be available to work any of the following hours:
- 5pm-10pm Monday - Friday
- 8am - 7pm Saturday
- 12:45pm - 7pm Sunday
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to walk the facility on a continuous basis.
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and stoop, kneel or crouch.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Major Responsibilities
- Walk through the building with members on tours and be able to provide information on member benefits, program benefits and classes offered to members.
- Handle emergencies and problems in the building and/or on the grounds.
- Patrol the building to observe conditions and to make sure we are providing a safe environment for all attendees. The building Supervisor should go to all areas that are being utilized including locker rooms.
- Act as a decision maker in the absence of senior staff.
- Correct and/or report problems such as unsafe situations, equipment or work conditions.
- Follow all YMCA policies and procedures as they exist and are established.
- Responsible to notify supervisor if you are not going to be at work within a reasonable time so that a replacement can be found. If you have secured a sub for your shift the direct supervisor needs to be notified.
