Software Engineering Manager, Google Cloud Dataproc, Open Source

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects.
• 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
• Experience with open-source analytics frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, Presto, Flink, Kafka, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.

In this role, you will work with Cloud Dataproc, which enables open-source data analytics users to modernize their BigData Analytics workloads in the cloud using technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Flink and Trino. By meeting customers where they are, Cloud Dataproc enables users to quickly provision and manage clusters and workloads efficiently.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Define and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals while aligning strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
• Establish clear, level and role based expectations aligned with organization's goals and conduct regular meetings to discuss individuals performance, development and provide feedback and coaching.
• Develop mid-term technical goals and roadmaps across multiple teams and evolve them to meet anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs.
• Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
